I haven't posted a lot about our viewing experience here, otherwise I'd be tempted to post episode by episode reviews, and it's way too late for that, but among dozens of other things I enjoy about this show — including several other derogatory Firefly comparisons I could make — can I just comment on how Amos Burton is 10x better conceived and written than Jayne Cobb ever was

Don't know if anyone needed this Wicker Man trivia but I just was reminded all over again about how:

• The movie's screenwriter Anthony Shaffer also wrote the Laurence Olivier/Michael Caine vehicle Sleuth
• Anthony Shaffer married Wicker Man actress Diane Cilento, who was Sean Connery's ex
• Anthony Shaffer was the identical twin brother of Peter Shaffer, who wrote the plays Equus and Amadeus
• Peter Shaffer was in a relationship with Wicker Man composer Paul Giovanni
• Giovanni died from AIDS

Like, it's easy to *summarize* Amos as a dumbass tank without empathy who'll do whatever he's told by whoever he gets convinced is right. But he doesn't express himself in a cartoonish way, we can actually see gears turn in his head no matter what comes out of his mouth, it's clearer he winds up caring about certain people in his own weird way, etc.; both the writing and Chatham's performance sell him as *human*

@beandreams@friendhole.social @infernusgoatus@kvlt.zone okay, that's a good contender, but considering all four berries on their year-round merits the worst berry in the list is blueberry. Because I like a good tiny, almost sour blueberry, and when they're fresh off the bush all blueberries are also great, but they're the one berry that I cannot STAND cooked. The flavor transmutes in a totally unacceptable sickly-sweet way.

@Gargron@mastodon.social even though I haven’t agreed with all your decisions, I think you’re making the right choice here, and I say that in the sense of you deserving to work on what feels comfortable for you. Some people have made a lot of assumptions about what your priorities are and why m.s has had problems, without ever having tried to do anything like what you’re doing. Even if I would still have gone about stuff in a different way from my own experience, I respect your efforts and wish you well.
