@aparrish i remember talking with someone (in civil service many decades ago) about how certain decisions for things were made, and she showed me a (big) set of books, and kinda how they worked. It seemed like an "if then" situation in every case. It had been around, and updated continuosly for a long time. I think I ended up helping put updates in her books. I guess that's kinda a markov chain? and it's suitable for its purpose. The only reason I can think of for generative AI is ... iunno. If I had a choice, I'd never use it.
