Today, I'm releasing a new website for blind gamers, built for 2026 and beyond. So much of the information about blind-accessible PC and console games is scattered across the AudioGames.net forum, GitHub pages, Discord servers, and websites that haven't kept up with how quickly blind gaming has been evolving since the advent of AI. Unless you're embedded in Discord or the Audiogames.net Forum, you're probably not aware that over 70 games have been made accessible for the blind via modding this year alone. What we've really needed is a website that tracks accessible mainstream games, with descriptions, direct links to their mods, and the information you need to get playing. "But that's a wiki," you exclaim. "But there are already lists like this," you plead. Well... BlindGaming.net, aka The Blind Gaming Database, automatically tracks mod releases through GitHub and Nexus Mods. It also tracks game prices across Steam, GOG, Humble, and many key shops, with a genre filter and a page for ongoing sales. And for the nerds among us, each game has its own RSS feed and supports web push notifications. There are a lot of other small features, like cross-region price history, and an upcoming API for mod ratings and game access information. I also want to do a better job of raising up mod creators so people know how to support them! All of this said, there's still much work to be done. If you'd like to help, consider writing a guide in Markdown or improving the existing Steam guide. I'd especially appreciate help from anyone familiar with console or Linux setup, so we can give people instructions they can actually follow. Finally, if you're interested in helping maintain the registry of games and have a track record in doing this kind of work, please shoot me a DM. This is not intended as a replacement for places like the Accessible Gaming wiki, although I do my best to integrate with it and point people there when I can. I'd love to hear what you think! https://www.blindgaming.net/ #accessibility #gaming #blind #games #steam #a11y

Overjoyed to announce that my AT-SPI bridge for Asahi Linux was just merged with muvm, bringing out of the box accessibility to applications like Steam and various other games that use 4K page sizes on apple hardware! This was my second Rust project and was written completely without an LLM, and I found it to be a great way to learn more about the inner workings of Linux. If you have a spare M1 or M2 Mac, I highly recommend giving it a go [when a new release is packaged up]! #linux #a11y #accessibility #rust #asahi

Oops my LLM broke containment and just happened to find the wide-open endpoint for infinite Star Trek streaming with audio description and now I'm probably going to jail but at least I'll have my 1990s Star Trek with AD (which I do not get with Paramount Plus, mind you). Something something AI liberation something something.

@miki@dragonscave.space @twilliability@genart.social @birb@rss-parrot.net This is the kind of feedback that makes no one want to work on new things: immediately labeling the UX of a "beta" RSS application as terrible 7 hours after its initial release and calling what is potentially a small oversight a "dark pattern", which is objectively a very negative phrase to label a situation that is likely not even insidious or attempting to hoodwink users privacy at all. Why not just make a suggestion instead of coming in hot like this?

@miki@dragonscave.space @twilliability@genart.social @birb@rss-parrot.net The service is open source. I can't see a reason that they chose to deny DMs upon quickly glancing through, but I would assume best faith interpretation until otherwise indicated. It's possible that it's just an artificial way to throttle down on people spamming, since folks will be obligated to air their RSS feeds in some kind of public venue. It'd be lovely to have a bit more privacy here, but I still sincerely doubt this is done intentionally to harm.

As a resident of Austin, Waymos aren’t new to me. For a while now, they’ve been part of the roulette of using Uber. But this week—save for a single morning—I’ve gotten Waymos every single time leaving my house to the hotel! I’m not saying there’s a conspiracy or anything, it’s likely just happenstance. Either way, it’s been quite enjoyable and I’ll take it! There is nothing more empowering than being the only one in the car and doing whatever the hell you want with the windows down. #nfb26

@prism@infosec.exchange @Thatmermaid_J@beige.party If Ed cared strongly enough he could just not go to those venues and refund all the tickets, no? Don’t get the defense of Ed on this at all. The venues are requiring this if he does a live show but good lord, the man does not actually *need* to tour there. He could stand in his own values. People would be upset, but that’s just part of, you know, being a person with principles. I don’t know why people shouldn’t be furious with Sheeran over this, he’s no better than Kraft.
