Friends, I want to establish the derogatory term "slophead" for people who have AI write text for others to read, who ask others for text just to consume an AI shortened version of it, for people who try to sell AI generated code as quality code ( unless they checked it is ), for people who become deskilled at text consumption and creation ( often the only skill on bullshit-job settings ) by outsourcing their work to an LLM and for people who produce indistinguishable bad output without employing an LLM at all. #slophead #ai #aislop #genAI #llm

@evawolfangel Ich denke, es ist mehr als "Defaults" anpassen, aber ich sehe es ähnlich. Eigentlich ein schönes Beispiel, wie "dumbing down" zu weit getrieben zur Katasrophe führen kann. Supabase baut auf PostgREST auf, das Ding, das aus dem DB-Schema eine API macht und mMn Supabase so sexy aussehen lässt. Aber das ist nur Entwicklern zugänglich. Supabase erst "mach alles klickbar", dann "lass es mit KI machen" und dann bumm.

@evawolfangel Danke für die gute Arbeit. Bei dem, was man sich so an tech. Hintergrund zusammenreimen kann, möchte ich aber eigentlich Supabase freisprechen und den Firmen, die sensible Daten per gevibecodeter Anwendung ins Internet legen, die Torte umso tiefer ins Gesicht drücken - und strafrechtlich (gibt es da nichts?!?) werden. RLS wurde offenbar schon vor 4J beim Anlegen von Tabellen im Dasboard zum Default gemacht. Und das war auch der Supabase-Usecase: Anwendung interaktiv zusammenklicken. Wenn du jetzt eigenhändig direkt CREATE TABLE zu Postgres sagst, kann Supabase da erstmal nichts machen. Soll es auch nicht müssen, nur du weisst ja, wer darauf zugreifen können soll. Nicht das Werkzeug ist schuld, sondern der Depp, der mit dem Feuerzeug in den Tank leuchtet.

@glyph Pretty close to a framing I like to entertain: llms as a new baseline for "skill". When we evaluate numerical weather prediction models we look at "skill" as how much better they are than a reference forecast, which might be a historical average. Now llm output is our new reference creative output: Stats run over historical data. If you do something an llm can do, you don't use skill.

@grimalkina I do understand that they do that on a personal level, but it is also a symptom of the reason for this carnage being possible at all. A "community" that doesn't know solidarity. @neilk

@grimalkina I am aware that this is an idealistic sentiment from a world we don't live in (anymore?): When programs are slashed, labs and institutions are closed, people are fired en masse with the goal to destroy science and academia, starting with fields that don't fit a certain extreme ideology, then the targets du jour shouldn't be left alone with their only option beeing to rename what they do in the hope to survive a bit longer. @neilk
