So what is it, really – a financial investment, a tool for emancipation, or simply a waste of time?
In it's current form? It's an investment in the same way placing your chips on red at the roulette wheel is an investment. It was supposed to be a tool for emancipation, but every potential for it to actually be that has been coopted or legally prohibited by governments and the exchanges which are beholden to them. The only exception that comes to mind is friends who use it to transfer money to family in a foreign country. In that case it has legitimate utility, in spite of the other caveats. Is it a waste of time? No moreso than any other technology. But it really depends whether you're approaching it based on it's original intent and principals, or whether you're just looking to get a big score if the market shifts in your favour suddenly. Arguably the vast majority of users either fall into the latter category, or have enough financial clout to engineer that situation for themselves (eg. via pump and dump). Never mind the scammers.
XMR is really the only crypto that comes to mind which is worth it's salt from that perspecttve. There are a small handful of others like ANC, XZC/FIRO, ZANO, and maybe others that at least try, but I don't know how well they actually accomplish that in practice. If you have to go through a traditional exchange to even get any to start with, it's pretty pointless from the get-go. At least precious metals are relatively stable and time tested, even while they have their own issues (eg. environmental destruction, indigenous rights, etc, etc).

If people give up most of their privacy...
That ship already sailed. It's just the crumbs that are left for the rats to pick clean.

Because being the defacto MITM for > 20% of the internet isn't good enough.
If you want a clue about how often you're gonna be pwn'd, I made a chromium extension for that. XPI is just a zip file, so inspect the contents to see what it does.

throws off the anti-White bullshit please Jesus
Please imaginary brown pseudohistorical super Jew from non-European country, save us from brown people from non-European country!!
one of those are refering to abortions
Numbers 5:20-27 was specifically about the legal requirement to obtain an abortion in cases of infidelity. The rest demonstrate the general attitude of Yahweh concerning the status of infants as living persons, and Exodus 21:22-23 specifically in regard to the lack of legal liability associated with shedding the blood of an unborn child.
Satanist
That's your superstition, not mine.
God hates
You got that part right. At least in reference to your own God.
the shedding of innocent blood.
Lol. Only applies when they're Jewish (and depending on historical interpretation, the right kind of Jew). For just a few more examples...

"love is a disease"
A paraphrase of Plato's discussion of the deleterious affect of eros (Phaedrus), not Diogenes.
what Diogenes would have made of Buddhist style non-attachment
Later Stoic philosophers considered him an exemplar of apatheia (passionlessness) and autarkeia (self-sufficiency). This thread of Hellenic philosophy arguably stems from Pyrrho, who studied Buddhism in India while he was accompanying Alexander the Great. It's commonly thought that he Hellenised Buddhist teachings and brought them back to Greece with him upon his return.
