This Is My Glasgow
'This Is My Glasgow' is a photographic project from Colin M. Drysdale, author of 'Glasgow Uncovered: 18 Walks Through its Past, Present and Future' - available from all good bookshops. Unless otherwise stated, all photos are my own.
Looking up at the gorgeously Art Deco Leyland Motor Company building on Salkeld Street on the Southside of Glasgow. Built in 1933, it's thought to have been designed by James Miller, one of the unsung heroes of Glasgow's architecture.
I always love it when I get the chance to check out these rather gorgeous tenement tiles on Victoria Road on the Southside of Glasgow.
A former Salvation Army Hall in the Bridgeton area of Glasgow in this morning's sunshine. Designed by John Hamilton and built in 1927, this is a rather wonderful building with a very distinctive roof line, which reminds me of a fractal.

I spent an interesting hour or so today at the open day at the Camphill Earthworks dig in Queen's Park on the southside of Glasgow. The open day is on until 3pm if you want to check it out for yourself.

The former Twomax factory on Old Rutherglen Road in the Gorbals area of Glasgow. Originally built as a cotton mill in 1817, it was taken over by Twomax, a Glasgow-based knitwear manufacturer, in the 1920s. It closed in the 1980s, and has recently been converted into flats.
On the top of the chimney is a rotating sculpture called Smokestack by Adrian Russell Lamb and Rita McGurn, which was installed in 1994.
Love the curvaceous shape of this finial on Bridgeton Cross Mansions in the East End of Glasgow. Built in 1896 from a design by John Cunningham.

It's the last chance to see Maggie's Art Trail Scotties, both large and small, this weekend at the Bridgeton Bus Garage in the East End of Glasgow. Unfortunately, the event is already sold out, so if you don't already have a ticket, I'm afraid you're out of luck.
Love this mini-Scottie I encountered today at the Maggie's Scotties in the City farewell weekend at the Bridgeton Bus Garage, especially the ladybird sitting on the end of its nose.
The rather attractive entrance to the former Bridgeton Manual Telephone Exchange on Cubie Street in Glasgow. Designed by William Thomas Oldrieve in an Edwardian Baroque style, it was built in 1910.

The cast-iron Bridgeton Cross Shelter, known locally as The Umbrella. A major landmark in the East End of Glasgow, it was made by George Smith's Sun Foundry in 1874. At one time, it has seating underneath and was a popular meeting place. It was restored and repainted in the early 2020s, and over 150 years since it was created, it remains an impressive and unique piece of street furniture.

The former Park's Motor Works on Kilbirnie Street in Glasgow. Built in 1913 and designed by R Henderson, it was modelled on Henry Ford's Highland Park Factory in Detroit.
