Retired Tech Geek. Campaigning to rejoin EU
Many years ago at Lockheed we developed a technology called "decision support system under stress". It was designed to share out targets between a fighter wing.
#russia has discovered that air defence has similar problems - MANPAD operators all attack the same incoming drone - sometimes with disastrous results. Fixed installations do work but the air defence missiles deployed are many more times as expensive as the drone swarms they target.
The new "treetop approach" drones are nearly impossible to safely intercept and apparently #ukraine is getting target intelligence from the USA. Now Russia has exhausted expensive hypersonic ballistic missiles on dubious value energy infrastructure with little lasting impact.
Ukraine capabilities can only get better and the results more obvious to Muscovites - it's time to negotiate
There is no doubt that #Russia can match the technical competence of #Ukraine when it comes to making sinister missiles but surely #Putin must now accept that, in the context of modern weapons, it is not possible to march into a rival capital and install a new regime.
Even if an economy is ruined, clever weapons don't cost much and don't require huge factories.
The difference between the two factions is
1) Ukraine knows it is at war
2) Russia is just finding out
This surely must be the beginning of the end!
Whenever a doom scrolling intro' starts with the words
"We ask if . . ."
Don't bother clicking through - the answer is always -
"we don't have any more ideas than you"
Using Google Maps AR "Live View" to augment GPS navigation (it recognises shop fronts and street landscapes) to give you a fine grain position is clever. My VW Golf GPS went home to Wolfsburg in the recent London thunderstorms but this new technology got me fixed just by taking a picture of a building
I wonder if the #Russians regret letting Google into Moscow?
A**e licking tasks for King Charles extended as #Trump rethinks U.S. position on #Falklands (On list of beastly revenge strategies for countries that step put of line)
Incoming LPG tanker in #straitOfHormuz on inshore route.
Interesting "CHINA OWNER AND CREW" listed instead of destination port -seems to be the new normal. Clear warning to the US Navy

Keep 1km bat tunnel that cost £119m, Andy Burnham will need it!
Each blob cost roughly £100m
Scorchio!
This super El Niño is frightening. It's an unpredictable cycle between 3 and 7 years. We have only just passed a solar maximum (an 11 year cycle) in 2025. That in conjunction with global warming is enough to make conditions here in the UK 'orrible.
The strange thing this year is the sea breeze seems to have stalled (I am right on the beach in SE England) The temperature of the North Sea is about 17.6°C here i.e. freezing!
What caused the jet stream to split and the "high" to stall over Europe? The weather forecasts have been really useful and very accurate. Does anybody have an expert analysis

Unsafe pair of hands?
She is a bit like a Russian historian - main responsibility is accurately predicting the past
Seeing Red
Vladimir Solovyov (long time Evening show Russian TV presenter) completely lost it #Trump style and (lapsing into Italian) called Italian PM Giorgia Meloni a “fascist” and a “certified idiot”.
I think he still stuffed about his "retirement plan" villas on Lake Como being confiscated and vandalised in 2022
Now the Cyprus Moscow on Sea and Crimea beachfronts has been closed out, elderly Russian fat cats are getting increasingly impatient.
Do they actually know what a fascist is?
- and who certifies idiots?
I am not sure we can trust this man.
Green behind the ears - "pile on" politics is never a good look.
Everybody in the #iran Revolutionary Guard feel they can make statements on behalf of the country - hence the confusing messages. #Trump cannot believe that threats of bombing are met with indifference but Iran's vestigial leadership care nothing about the general population.
It is much easier to enrich Uranium from 60% to weapons grade (than starting from scratch) and saving a few missiles would not be so hard. Even in the "stone age", resources will be concentrated by a will to survive. If the USA persists, a "dirty bomb" in the centre of oil production could be the doomsday outcome.
Like many "post apocalypse" movies; living like Mad Max is an attractive proposition for many and the confused sad old man in the Whitehouse would be satisfied he had left a fitting monument
@kibcol1049@mstdn.social I suspect it was Iranian Sovereign Wealth funds.
#Trump (the famous deal maker)
- "a valuable present" turned out to be a trojan horse
Tom Hanks production- "The
American Experiment" 5 part docu-series on Netflix is a really good watch.
It it is so even handed about the evolution of the war of independence up to the modern day that it is presented more in sorrow than in triumph.
There is a "it should have worked out better" feel.
I wonder if Californis is getting tired of rule from Washington?
@TheDailyBurble@mastodon.social So you burnt the house down when burnt toast got out of hand?
