Got a promotion! Nice way to end the week and start the long hot weekend. I'm now a Principal Dev. Honestly I feel like I know nothing when I see how my team crank out incredibly elegant complex code but I'm doing something right with how I'm managing the platform and the devs. Often talking them down when they're frustrated and helping them approach problems (other people mainly) without that youthful attitude that could get them in trouble. Going to open a nice bottle of red and relax.

The wrestlers at the carnival said to A "I saw you doing something cool before" and got her to do it in the ring: https://orllewin.uk/video/98ce184e12
Long hot day for me but the kids had a proper memory making time. P had never seen wrestling before and thought it was the best thing ever. He met an owl too which couldn't compete. A's dance group did a show, she was great and they all had a good time.
We used to see this sign long before we moved here, it went missing (we have our suspicions), but someone found it in the field by the road last week. The neighbour who made it, P, is in her 70s and was out Saturday in Manchester at a Moodymann and Carl Craig gig. She said Moodymann took her by the hand mid-set and put her next to the DJ booth and told her she could dance there all night. She got invited to the afters but already had plans for another party. Legend.
Lento4 for Android is finished enough to release: https://orllewin.uk/programs/android/lento4/
Our solar produced 40kWh today and we exported 30kWh to the grid. That's pretty huge for a smallish setup. Apparently we made £6.66...
A Labour local election candidate just knocked on my door. Don't think he was expecting a lecture on the Online Safety Act, Trans rights, and proscribing Palestine Action, but he got one, that's the price he paid for bothering me. He seemed nice, but ultimately the Labour party simply are not left wing anymore.
Close to having midi out working on Resonance. The trickiest part is going to be figuring out the cabling. I do have a USB midi interface somewhere, and I've got an old MicroKorg and the Critter & Guitari Organelle (plus a 3.5mm jack to Midi cable), hopefully I've got the right combination of bits to get this working without spending money
Context parameters are going to be a bit of a game changer: https://kotlinlang.org/docs/context-parameters.html
Declare a context parameter and it'll be available to everything further down the call tree. No need to pass fields down the Composable chain with loads of boilerplate. #kotlin
How do you lose a mechanical keyboard? I've searched everywhere. It's either hidden somewhere cunning, I sold it and forgot, or I loaned it to someone and forgot.
So I've bought another Vortex Cipher from eBay for £37 which is an absolute bargain regardless, but now I risk the lost keyboard appearing and having a surplus again. I can't work with Vortex Core much longer though, 40% keyboards look very cool but they're only useful for cosplaying Johnny Mnemonic.
The same dev who was arguing with me yesterday because of the overhead of having a basic enum (or sealed class) to cover an unknown state instead of a boolean (paired/unpaired versus unknown/paired/unpaired) despite the fact it'd make any kind of sane UI impossible is now arguing that we shouldn't null a stale reference of a very heavy mechanism to mark it for GC.
I'm sure he just likes to be contrary. Is it the weekend yet?
Midi/Synth enthusiasts, any recommendations for a synth that'll receive Polyphonic After-touch? PolyAT as I now know it's referred to as, this is all new to me, from what I can tell it's generally only on expensive kit, the cheapest I've found that supports it is: https://dreadbox-fx.com/nymphes/ which although very nice is still over £400.
I've found this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/synthesizers/comments/1ibdcy1/synths_that_receive_poly_aftertouch/ but they're all £££££.
