@monkeyninja@10base2.dev @Xibanya@mastodon.xyz My partner - loosely identifying as cis at the time and as nonbinary now, but basically their gender is "I have one?" - wore a kilt on our wedding day, specifically because it was the overlap of "acceptable as formalwear" and "acceptable for their sensory intolerance of lower leg fabric" (they also have Scottish family ties, but that just meant having a tartan choice made!)
I - loosely identifying as cis both then and now - wore a metallic blue circle skirt and a navy corset (over a pale yellow shirt). That got coded as transgressive, but it was at least as sensory-driven as the kilt - "skirt go spinny" wasn't an egg crack, it was a no-context stim just like the wearable hug of the corset and the joy of seeing the skirt fabric catching the light!
Questioning my gender affirmed that it's very likely the initially assigned one, but that this is secondary to my autistic sensory issues.
