This is the last #ShezzaSpuds harvest of 2026, the Blues.
I waited until the foliage had almost completely died back, and this was my reward.
I’m very chuffed, and motivated to do it all again next year.

I’m experimenting with kitchen windowsill gardening, inspired by childhood cress growing.
This is two handfuls of Bigga dried marrowfat peas, scattered 7 days ago on a few layers of wet kitchen roll. I’m hoping they’ll all do enough growing to let me get a handful or two of pea sprouts to mix into my salad.

Harvested the second #ShezzaSpuds plant today, and look! Twice as many spuds as I got off the first plant.
Now if only I knew why this was.

I forgot to add this pic to my #ShezzaSpuds thread.
These little green globes are the (kinda poisonous) potato berries I found on the second plant I was harvesting.
I briefly toyed with keeping them for planting. And then I learnt they should have been riper before picking; and I’d need to soak them to release the seeds, plant them next year, harvest the spuds, and save the spuds to plant the year after to get any sort of harvest.
Think I’ll stick to chitting veg bag spuds next year.

But I know the hours you’ve had to put in to acquiring the skills to make such delicious things. I really need to get back to baking, and revisit stuff teenage me used to do without thinking twice about 🥧🍰 :)

@Erased_Citizen@cupoftea.social My brother still lives at home. Every time he comes back from the heritage railyway he’s a volunteer at, Mum makes him get changed beside the washing machine, and his work clothes go straight in.
Then the machine gets another cycle on empty to shift the last of the grease and grime.

It’s taken me this long in life to start to worry less about all the hair and makeup stuff I was taught to worry about.
The confidence is better than it was a decade ago, but it’s still a work in progress. I do go out without hair or makeup done now, which would appal my Mum, but not for an “out out” IYKWIM.
