It’s not my fault that some hasn’t read a 3000 year old pillar of western fantasy fiction and then overhears us talking about it.

Can some remind people that the idea of chemically stimming your military and populace is supposed to be a dystopian idea that should be discouraged not a mainstream idea that is backed by every part of our leaders?

@mntmn@mastodon.social The official docs are insufficient, but write_project_tcl is where you get the baseline TCL from. https://docs.amd.com/r/en-US/ug994-vivado-ip-subsystems/Saving-Vivado-Project-Information-in-a-Tcl-File
Then you get to hack about making the thing work with your IP blocks and such.

@mwl@io.mwl.io it has never caused me drama, but there is a bit of “clench” when I issue that reboot to test.

These #commodore plus/4 things are wild. Windowed editing while spreadsheeting in 1984. I love the form factor and the keyboard on it. #retrocomputing

AI/ML Rant
Make things. If someone wants to pay you to "use AI" to make things, make the thing and just don't use AI. Let them think you are a wizard.

Noted that the morning sunrise is VERY orange and red this morning. Thought that I should check to see if there is a local forest fire causing a bit of smoke in the air. I made the mistake of ZOOMING OUT.

*sigh* ... #Plex linux container stuff that I paid for, apparently, needs an INTERNET connection to import new files. PLEX itself is having issues, therefore, new files cannot be ingested. Yet another reason to use #jellyfin https://forums.plex.tv/t/music-library-says-internet-connection-required-but-server-is-online/940899

I'm being told that this years update removes Linux Desktop support from the free-tier.
It also creates a new tier "GOLD" that is the only tier that doesn't enforce mandatory telemetry! 🤦♀️ 🤦 🤦♂️
Important: All subscription tiers of AMD Vivado™ and the AMD Vivado™ Enterprise edition includes tools telemetry turned on by default. Only customers with a GOLD license will have the option to turn tools telemetry OFF.

I am really enjoying Lattice products and anything supported under APIO and YoSys these days.

@mntmn@mastodon.social Every project I've hacked on starts with "export project to TCL". Then there some faffing about with removing DCP files and paths.
Once that hackery works to build with the command line invocation of vivado, I'll wrap that in a shorter TCL file to "do that and then spit out an XSA".
This seems to be the design pattern that worked for me with gitlab-ci and friends.

I do wonder what the little RNG seed is doing when it hits the same artist twice. Its pretty hard to do considering the 64GB of music I have on that thing.

I cannot believe what a relationship improvement I gained when I got a cheapy set of blutooth earbuds for listening to my bullshit on my computer so my spouse didn't have to listen to it.
I realized this was an improvement when I didn't put my headset on before playing some morning music and my spouse asked who the "yelling man" was. #music

@rpaulo@infosec.exchange I watched a lot of hours get burned by things like eclipse, kdevelop, visual studio and netbeans. From starting a new project to inheritng a mature codebase. I have never seen a time when I actually wanted to use any of them.
They seem to mask away a lot of layers of systems that I find useful and speedy, I know you do too.
What do the "kids" use these days for editing and building projects?
