We just did a major redesign and reengineering for the e-commerce experience on Ivy Foundry’s website. This was a huge undertaking led by Persa Zula and will shape the future of font purchasing across all our sites.

You can view it live at https://ivyfoundry.com/ (and maybe license some fonts, they are good!)

Thanks for the input and support from the whole team: @bram@typo.social, Dave Gutierrez, Ivan Ukhov, and @tylersticka@social.lol

Every Ivy Foundry typeface is for designers by a designer. Editorial, Branding, Packaging, and Advertising. All of the families are versatile and impeccable.

If you’re in the US, have you called your representatives today? Now is a good time to do so.

I get why we don’t have ::before and ::after on , but it would be so useful sometimes.

There is some really impressive text and layout stuff happening in #Pretext. I would love to see CSS exclusions, a better justification algorithm, and improved CSS column support to address some of what Pretext is doing.

RE: @Mastodon@mastodon.social

Fantastic talk by @imanijoy@mastodon.social on design, iteration, and community. I love how incredibly thoughtful she is in this work and moving through feature development.

@beep @mwichary I see this as a “yes, and” kind of feature. I would love to see a “content cascade” where alt text can be in EXIF data, and then overwritten with alt text. Like with CSS, style attributes override the stylesheet; alt text can override EXIF data. “The process of adding a new category of metadata to even a single image standard is a Herculean undertaking.” — EXIF is a cross-file-type standard that exists, and adding one field seems very doable to me. Font specs regularly add to their naming tables; I don’t see why image specs can’t. I see this as another tool to help with some workflows, not a change to how we do things. Adding alt text to EXIF data seems like a useful tool to have in addition to the wonderful tools we already have.

@csilverman @Luke I see the value in both perpetual and subscription options. There are times when you are working on a project for a brief period or want access to a larger library, and rentals make lots of sense. If a brand wants a perpetual license, that should also be on offer. These options add complexity but also give customers choices. At The Type Founders, we released Typographer to give people access to the whole library, as Spotify does for Music. You can still go to foundries to purchase perpetual licenses, like you would buy your favorite record and listen to it forever. I think it’s nice to give people more options.

@davatron5000 Yeah… I had a potential client loop me in on some grand ideas he needed help developing. Then he shared his screen to show me the business plan, and everything was ChatGPT. Naturally, the job didn’t materialize. I’m amazed and horrified at how many people I’ve run into with AI psychosis in my daily life.

After the DLSS 5 fiasco, I’ve been thinking about what it might be like to create a genAI rendering pipeline that gives artists more control, not less.

I can imagine using meshes that are keyed to have the concept art team draw assets to fill these areas. Similar to how sketch-to-AI tools work, but with an artist controlling the sample data the models are built from. Low-poly meshes and vectors for velocity provide input to a custom model created by artists, producing truly wild visuals.

I feel like DLSS5 could have been really cool and they could have introduced a whole new rendering pipeline, but they leaned so hard into AI slop instead.

Hey @tor@ieji.de, Just wanting to flag this user for you. I didn’t want to make this my instance’s moderation problem, and I read your rules, which this clearly violates.
