Soms werkt het even niet omdat Google tegenwerkt, maar dan komt er snel een update en werkt het weer.

@yetiinabox @quixoticgeek In the 2000s I was hired by a telecom company and heard that had a dozen or more Next-computers stored, out of use. I hooked them up with a befriended collector and he managed to save them all and load them in his red Citroën BX Break. Cubes, slaps, monitors, all in perfect condition. Over the years all the machines have found their way to a computer museum, hacker space or to other collectors (through marktplaats.nl).

@mausmalone @libreoffice Different people need different things from the interface, I am sure. But surely there are more and less popular functions. For the crowdfunding we can do a survey. Already under the file menu. "Open Remote... " Why would I want to open a remote file? From where, when, how? I just want to write. Strike it, it is confusing. "Wizards... Fax" What? A time machine? "Wizards... Agenda" That is something else! The list of crap that can be wielded is endless...

Maar dan opgevangen in een chat-app (en versleuteld als je er samen voor kiest). Oorspronkelijk was de interface zelfs een fork van de Signal-app. Het was de sensatie van de FOSDEM-conferentie begrijp ik (waar ik zelf niet was). En 100.000en in Iran gebruiken het al. In Rusland ook populair. Zegt al genoeg.

Mijn voornaamste consumptie is een hele reeks kwaliteitscouranten met doorlopende abonnementen. En ik loop naar winkels hier om mijn huis heen voor de meeste consumptie. Hopelijk realiseren de fingerprint-handelaren dat ik volstrekt waardeloos ben als consument en niks waard. Als daar nou een categorie voor komt...

Heeft dus op alle ministeries een top-ambtenaar en die rapporteren dan weer in aan de minister van Digitale Zaken. Beetje omdenken is nodig, het gaat om Digitale Zaken. Klinkt een beetje als een vergadertijger maar als je een scherpe hebt dan ontwikkelt ze een neus voor de digitale kwetsbaarheden van elk beleidskwestie. En zo niet, dan stil.

@mausmalone @libreoffice That's interesting. I found it under 'View'. After opening a document. But in the end it is the presence of features I haven't used the past years that is confusing, distracting. Personalisation is a big thing when it results in more shopping on the internet. Everything is about personalisation then. But a word processor that just hides features I have never used the pas 15 years, that kind of personalisation did not appear yet.

I opened a document, copied the contents and tried to paste it into another application. Same document, same move with LibreOffice, no problem. I think I'll stick to LibreOffice for now, despite the drawbacks.

@twix @schellevis Ach ja, natuurlijk, de organisatie heeft geen eigen systeem meer. Nu staat zoiets op de computer van een ingehuurde dienstverlener. Een grote multinational zodat de dienst door de economies of scale heel goedkoop kan zijn. Met een interface die voor iedereen hetzelfde is, dus daar kan je eerst als klant op je gemakje een scriptje voor bouwen. Dan heb je alleen nog de login nodig van een grote klant. De dienstverlener is vast wel onverantwoordelijk in de kleine lettertjes.

@adfichter anything we can do to help? I read at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republik that Republik is modelled after @decorrespondent as a magazine. But another subscription for me is a bit too much. Also reading German slows me down. Is there some crowdfunding donation page? The more money for good journalism the better.

@schellevis dus een scriptje op de pc van een klantenservicemedewerker dat op de achtergrond een query doet op een klantnummer, het resultaat kopieert en verstuurt, weer de query op het nummer doet opgehoogd met 1 en dat dan weer kopieert en verstuurt... En dat scriptje dan verspreid over andere workstations op de werkvloer? Moet ik me iets dergelijks voorstellen? Dan stopt de actie als de dienst van de medewerker erop zit. Kan het scriptje dan later wel verder waar het stopte?

I shared an interview in a Whatsapp group and without reading anything she was immediately charmed by the photo illustrating the interview and installed Signal. Consequently it set a positive tone for Signal and the whole group migrated.

@Frieke72 Ik help graag mee. Een petitie kan ook goed op twee sites tegelijk lopen. Bij het indienen leg je de twee op elkaar en tel je de aantallen bij elkaar op.
