@Blender@mastodon.social this doesn't make it any better. This company feeds on the visual and engineering creativity of your users and developers. Why would you take money from a company that is by design non-ethical?

@emilymbender@dair-community.social great response - especially the paper mache part - made me smile. The writing was on the wall for ACM. With recent CACM the paddling for a share of attention of the heads at ACM in the AI arena became almost unbearable. At the end it is a business case for them, the scientific argument is only sugar coating it.

@jplebreton not unexpected. Every talk by him is/was choke full of arrogance and ignorance. As a VR veteran i could even attest him scientific misunderstanding. I don’t get why people worship him.

@doragasu @jplebreton sure about his technical wizardry early in his career. However, I wouldn't take OSS as a hint towards somebody with positive traits. Its just code. And examples for OSS advocates gone rogue are amass. In my book he would be a legend if he would have actively passed things on and built a open community around him welcoming everybody. Just dropping off some code is not enough in my book.

@Bundesregierung - wie wäre es denn einfach mal die Energiepolitik zu überdenken und uns unabhängig machen von fossilen Brennstoffen?

@webfussel @Bundesregierung Das würde aber voraussetzen das wir uns an wissenschaftliche Fakten halten müssten und nicht unter dem Deckmantel der "Technologieoffenheit" physikalischen Gesetzen Parteizugehörigkeit zu unterstellen. Vielleicht lieber noch im Bildungssektor kürzen damit das niemand merkt. Ach so, ja ist ja schon auf dem Weg.

@Lilith@chaos.social das wird mit genau so einer Technologieblindheit an Hochschulen den Studenten mitgegeben. Das endet leider sehr oft inzwischen in einer Art Kataloginformatik: sprich wir klicken uns eine IT-Lösung beim IT-Serviceprovider zusammen ohne zu hinterfragen bzw. in der Lage zu sein zu hinterfragen, ob die das auch technisch umsetzten können. Genau daran scheitern wir uns mit der Digitalisierung voran.

@godotengine@mastodon.gamedev.place - the question regarding current projects should also include professional applications and education. Why this was not an option? Godot is in my opinion not only a game engine but a pretty decent all-purpose 3D engine for example. How about CAD visualization in VR/AR?

@kuketzblog@social.tchncs.de bin gerade am umziehen meiner Videos zu Übungen für Lehrveranstaltungen. Warum sollen meine Studierenden diesen Konzernen extra Traffic generieren. Im Moment expirementiere ich mit clip.space - als backup hat unsere Hochschule auch einen H5P Server mit Integration in Stud.IP. Die Alternativen sind da, man muss sie halt nur benutzen.
