Its amusing watching people go "nobody wants EVs" and then surprisingly "everyone wants EVs!" when oil prices go up.

In my french class and the other students and teachers ask casually if Canada has "le train grande vitesse" and are shocked that a "developed" country like Canada does not.

Bad look.

The time is now - Vancouver needs platform screen doors. Read my latest article on this: https://open.substack.com/pub/thetransitbrief/p/these-platforms-could-use-some-work?r=1eh3ax&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

There is a nice smell I periodically smell walking about my city. Not sure what it is. Slightly damp and floral, very nice.

Instead to looking to Asian or European cities, North American cities should look closer to home — to São Paulo for some transit inspiration.

My good friend Jonathan English has told me so many great stories about infrastructure over the years, really excited today that he's launched a blog (I'm helping out).

First post is about how Canada became an enormous amount of the American oil market.

Two thoughts I was having.

Ah, what if I made videos again?
Oh, I could not take the stress with the way people are talking about high speed rail. . .

People sometimes ask why I don't tend to get involved in transit union affiliated advocacy, and the issue people comes down to this. Unfortunately on a recurring basis the unions advocate for stuff that's bad for riders and for transit.

I got on the Hogtown podcast⁩ to talk about high speed rail, subway costs, and fixing Toronto's streetcars. It was a really interesting conversation from two guys who had the best questions about transit I have heard in a very long time. If you're into housing, transport and urban issues, consider subscribing!

@walnut yeah I mean it just seems like guilt by association which feels like a bad reason not to support a company that is finally developing good repairable hardware. The issue in this super connected world is you can find someone unsavory connected to literally anyone.

@quoidian if congestion is this bad, I guess commute earlier? Usually I find it gets significantly better if you go a little earlier. The other answer is asking the TTC to run more trains, again the line has lots of additional capacity it just depends on them running the trains for it

@walnut@shrimp.thesoftestpaws.net I just don't get the sense that this person that you're talking about is either as closely associated as you're saying or as bad as you're saying. I think if it were so cut and dry they obviously wouldn't associate.
