@saucerlost @adhdeanasl I would submit "Sharkey's End" for a more precise reference.

mastodon 4.7.3I am a superintelligent shade of the colour red.
Linguistics and Graphic Design by degrees, with interests in science fiction and fantasy worldbuilding, palaeontology, archaeology, maps, making things (conlanging, knitting, 3D modelling, forged my own sword one time, writing).
Hoping to embody the etymological spirit of the word "wizard" which I saw interpreted one time as meaning "one possessed of too much knowledge".

I have a fourth kind: Getting so sucked into something that I'll work on it for 16 hours a day, for several days a week, no side quests and barely stopping to eat etc. Then I don't manage to work on it again for several months, usually.

@lorepozo@tech.lgbt I know a couple who are in a similar situation, they just use their names so far.

@kechpaja@social.kechpaja.com I occasionally have to log in to facebook on my phone's browser to check on things people have been saying, but it's almost completely unuseable. Only every third post is something you actually want to see, the interface jumps around every time you scroll, it's bizarre.
I performed at a poetry open mic last night! I was very intimidated by the idea, and everyone got a good chuckle out of the title of my piece and the logic behind it: "This is not a poem this is just a warmup"
The logic being that if it is scary to perform poetry in front of people, then if it's not poetry it can't be scary.

@gregeganSF A word I've been very familiar with all my life, and I've just now realised I've never seen it written down before. Huh.

@proprietor I haven't posted any of my efforts on here yet, but lately I've been getting into doing prints with a mechanical letterpress and wooden poster type, so if you were interested in some entirely analogue lettering for idk part of a banner or something then I'd be up for that.

@mander@corteximplant.net There needs to be a secret phrase for the fediverse like with tumblr and the Obama's shoelaces thing

@IanMoore3000@mastodon.ie I would very much like to see a four hour visual treatment of the Ainulindalë, but that would be more like Disney's Fantasia than a three-act action/adventure film.

@postantiquarian@archaeo.social It very nicely demonstrates the density of NE Scotland to everywhere else!

@postantiquarian@archaeo.social In the info I could find "clava style" referred to a number of monuments around inverness, but not in the area in the north east where that dense patch of polygons is.

@IanMoore3000@mastodon.ie Only explanation I can think of is that they're doing screen versions of bits of the Legendarium that no one really thought required a film in order to pressure the rights' holders into letting them do the Silmarillion?? "Let us do Beren and Luthien or we'll do 'Boromir journeys from Gondor to Rivendell' and next year we'll do 'Farmer Maggot takes his mushrooms to market' and we won't stop until we get what we want"

@IanMoore3000@mastodon.ie I mean, it's kind of like saying the Bible is unfilmable, with all its separate books and individual stories scattered over centuries. You wouldn't do A Film of the Silmarillion unless you were told "okay You have three hours to cover all of this material and NO MORE THAN THAT". You'd do the separate stories such as were being published through Christopher Tolkien's lifetime, The Children of Húrin, The Fall of Gondolin, Beren and Lúthien etc.

@vicgrinberg@mastodon.social I agree with you, it's an interesting take on the story. And probably my favourite (I've seen it a couple of times from different people). The trolley problem aspect still works, but it is less interesting to me than this aspect of the story.
