Former physical security guy learning to be a cyber security guy. Was here for a good time not a long time, but I've survived much and my back hurts.
FOSS rocks. Fascists suck. I'm just looking for the most honorable, ethical way to be.

I spent seven years in the "move fast and break things" culture on an incident response team. It's a garbage way of doing business.

Maybe share this with your dev friends. And if they're a leader, maybe share it with 'em again in a week.

@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io This headline is incredibly biased. Did Proton help the FBI? Or did they hand over data to the Swiss government that the Swiss government ordered them to, and then the Swiss helped the FBI unmask an anonymous protester? I keep seeing this post pop up in my feed with permutations of "WHY PROTON DO THIS!?" -- Because they were legally ordered to. We're doing a disservice to ourselves for not recognizing the bounds of the privacy that Proton, or Tuta, or any other "private" email service provides, and looking at this moment as a failure by the provider - when really it's the failure of a user to recognize the technical & legal bounds of of their comms services to keep them anonymous. The lesson here, i think, is about opsec, and knowing the bounds of the tools we're employing for whatever our goals are.

Is Seedvault still the way to backup GrapheneOS? If so, is Seedvault still hit or miss? My attention has been elsewhere for a bit and I've heard rumors a better way was in the works; is that here/still in the works? @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social #grapheneos #graphene_os

@Yehuda@turtleisland.social None of Meta's messaging platforms are truly end to end encrypted. Including Whatsapp. Meta eployees can access all of it. Some of it might offer better data security in transit, but that's just so Meta can profit from selling it.

So like...are we waiting until they start putting cameras in all the cars before we raise hell about how they're putting cameras in all the cars? Also: why? There are flock/fastrak/carpool/other-car/phone/pervert-glasses cameras pointed at everything...what's the point of adding cameras to the inside of cars? This timeline sucks.

@chadmccullough@mastodon.bsd.cafe What are people supporting by downloading this garbage? Asking for a friend. No really though - I've heard DHH is questionable, and Omarchy is his baby, but I'm into Pop!_OS & Qubes and just wrote off DHH & Omarchy as not worth my time. But a friend just mentioned that they're running Omarchy and I'm having an "oh shit I should have paid attention so I can talk them away from that and into a more sensible distro" facepalm moment. Educate me?

@mcc@mastodon.social I've spent little to no time invested in anything Lynch has done (which I need to change), but just from the scraps I've seen of his work from time to time: I fully agree with your assessment. You could have told me this was an image from Twin Peaks and I'd have believed you.
