Dear web browser developers, In 2026 it's ridiculous that we don't have searchable drop down lists without including custom #HTML, #CSS and #Javascript code. But keep adding #AI features nobody wants, I guess. Thanks!

@lina@vt.social @whitequark@social.treehouse.systems If you need assistance, then you should solicit that before contaminating your source with LLM-generared code. After that is too late. When the developer then doubles down on using AI, meaning here's no chance of referring the contamination, it's no surprise that people no longer want to assist.

Remember when we used to go outside with no electronic devices at all?

Maybe I should try leaving my mobile phone at home some times.

@bloor@bloor.tw When I still ran Windows, and my eyes could cope with VR, flying in FS2020 with the HTC Vive was the best thing. So much easier to do things when you can just look at where you want to go instead of only ahead. Driving games were also okay but it wasn't quite the game changer. Not sure I'll have much luck with any of that on Linux though.

@Dany@hsnl.social I found there are still some eBay sellers that haven't realised prices have skyrocketed, if you get lucky and aren't too concerned about matching speed. Whether or not Corporate allows that is another matter of course.

This is much better proposal than the IPV8 draft, and proves that being an IETF draft doesn't actually mean anything significant.

Hmm, anyone know how to make #PostgreSQL avoid scanning an index that happens to be EXCLUDE USING gist (...).

The index is to ensure overlapping date ranges are not possible, but using it to scan rows causes a massive performance hit

@FediThing@tech.lgbt @Irreverent_B@kolektiva.social @gcluley@mastodon.green Yes, sorry I didn't mean to say E2EE DMs shouldn't be implemented, just that there's a whole raft of software that would "need" to implement it, and all guarantee being secure.

@FediThing@tech.lgbt @Irreverent_B@kolektiva.social @gcluley@mastodon.green Hmm. There's more to federated social media than Mastodon, and there are already specialized tools for E2EE messaging with that as their focus. Crypto potentially done badly may be worse than none at all.

Hmm, but why don't the / #HTML elements support style or class attributes? Would be way more useful than just width. I suppose I could do it with plain #CSS using tr > .nth-child(x), but then as far as I know I have to re-implement all the markup for various width breakpoints.
