Everyone here: “Only vibe code apps for yourself. You don’t ever want to release them to other users. That would be irresponsible.” And then the most followed and boosted posts are as vibe as vibe gets and everyone: “Hells yeah that looks awesome! Where’s the TestFlight?” I guess it just depends on who’s doing the vibe coding. Or the fact that you don’t say you’re doing it.

Over the summer I built a vector tile rendering pipeline to my topo map app Maptrails. I can pretty confidently say it’s the best and most accurate map there is for Finland right now. The update is available today.

I thought about localizing these to FI / SE / EN based on app language but did not get that far yet. Label size is customizable. And there is a separate dark mode style. So much is now possible.

Really happy with how the new Diff tool turned out. The simplified controls work better together and it’s much easier to read the diffs now. You can even drag and drop files right into the tool.

Proxygen aims to strike a middle ground between a security analysis tool and app developer proxy. It still blows my mind what I can now glean from a captured list of HTTP messages using the MCP tools.

I notice that now, by using AI for most of my app development, I spent much less time in front of my computer. Shorter stints here and there instead of sitting hours on end implementing some new feature. These days I don’t touch my desktop computer almost at all. I’ve had much more time for other hobbies, and taking a proper habit of hitting the gym several times a week. 🏋️

And lots of apps get left unmaintained, whether it was vibe coded or not doesn’t change the equation in a meaningful way IMO. I’ve seen plenty of ugly looking artisanal apps too (mine included) 🫣😅 It’s just strange how the standards change all the time.
