Got the hedge maze working! Now on tuning the first few levels. Monster spawns, random items drops, loot tables, random encounters etc.
Tedious work, but so satisfying.

Spent an hour or so with Codex to get my 17 year old iPhone game compiling and running in the iOS simulator. Built in Objective-C with Cocos2D.
By any standard the codebase is an abomination but it worked! Pushed based async multiplayer back in 2009, single player pass-and-play ,as well as playing against bots.
I think we sold/gave away over 100k copies over the lifetime of the game. https://cyrillian.com/archive/generals/ has more details. Maybe I'll resurrect it... :)
Received the first art drop for my roguelike last night and it feels like Christmas morning!

Most of Petra is just the stuff I wish every small Go web app already had once it grows past a few templates.

One of the easiest ways to gain credibility is through follow-through - actually doing what you said you would do. Over time, that compounds.

Every external dependency in your project, be it a library or infrastructure will eventually hurt you.
That does not mean you should avoid dependencies. It means you should choose them deliberately, understand the failure modes, and put the right boundaries around them so the blast radius stays small.
Dependencies are leverage. Just make sure they are not also load-bearing in places you cannot easily repair.
Even more relevant these days, just more of a speed-run.
Upgraded to macOS 26 from macOS 14. It’s fine. Liquid Glass is pretty meh. I’m sure that’ll improve over the next few years.

Several years ago I was biking - a lot. Over 3,000 miles that year, most of it on a cheap department store bike.
One morning I was descending a switchback near a dam. The pavement was still wet. My tires slipped out mid-turn, and I went down hard, skidding across concrete on bare skin for several feet.
It hurt. A lot.

I’ve built many voice agents and most fall short at delivering an experience that respects my time and delivers a better outcome.
This stuff is hard and people are way too gung-ho to deploy this stuff.
