all posts are opinions of my former employers.
This blog post is a great example of how and why Swift Concurrency is an absolute mess.
Nonsensical default behavior. Opaque keywords and modifiers that require too much cognitive load.
A special case for *everything*.
You couldn’t design a more complicated and confusing system if you tried.

Just imagine how amazing Apple’s hardware announcements this week would have been if they had OSes that worked.
I continue to be baffled at the comical level of complexity that has manifested in Swift.
Did AI design this language?

Absolutely insane email from an App Store user.
My guy, you literally clicked a “buy” button with a price in the App Store.
I can’t comprehend the chain of events that led to this email.
“Our company is so successful and so profitable that we are firing 50% of all our workers to keep more money for ourselves and enrich investors. We recognize the impact and do not make this decision lightly. But anyway, fuck you I guess.”

Glad Apple finally stopped their hostile practice of withholding security updates.

YouTube now shows “Concerts Near Me” and Spotify is pivoting to music videos.
What the actual fuck is happening.
Software development needs to stop.
Look on the bright side, the ai “revolution” came pre-enshittified

Imagine being so delusional that you trust *this* government to abide by your agreements to use your software.
@ashfurrow@tenforward.social just read this post. Do you mount a Magic Keyboard underneath your desk just for Touch ID? 😆 love it
Has anyone used this? Do strict LLM permissions not suffice?
Seemed like a nice idea. But it's just an 8000-line shell script written by some guy.
So... 🤔
I’m seeing 1Password offering to auto-fill logins that are archived and deleted.
Anyone else? Is this a new bug?
Enshittification continues. 🤡
@mattiem@mastodon.social what is the ideal way to do file I/O with NSFileManager and Swift Concurrency?
An actor doesn’t seem correct.
I’ve seen using withCheckedThrowingContinuation wrapping a DispatchQueue. This seems… good? I’m not sure.
How would you approach this? I guess I’m looking for “NSFileManager, but with async/await”
