Except for the units of measurement. When 🇨🇦 joins the 🇪🇺, it should fully embrace the metric system:

• No more feet and inches (except for screen sizes and sandwiches).
• No more Fahrenheit (I’ve changed various ovens displays to °C).
• Drop the lb and just call 500g a “pound”.
• And what are (liquid) ounces anyway?

@n8 I'm of a similar vintage as @knurd42 and growing up in 🇩🇪, #MaxHeadroom was definitely a thing. Probably not as big as Knight Rider or Tron, but bigger than Captain Power and Automan. I also remember the Video of "Paranoimia" by the "Art of Noise" which featured Max Headroom (and now I'm humming along).

@holger_moller@bildung.social Ich nutze Zoom unter Ubuntu und hatte damit noch nie Probleme. Das .deb Paket kann man ich auf der Webseite von Zoom herunterladen und dann installieren. Das gleiche Paket sollte auch unter Mint laufen. Leider gibt es keine Paketquelle mit der sich Zoom zusammen mit dem restlichen System aktualisiert. (Ja, es gibt Rezepte mit workarounds im Netz)

@joat@mastodon.scot I should slowly start figuring out how to shutdown my RaspberryPis and the Proxmox PVE using NUT. I've been monitoring the state of my two UPSs with NUT and Telegraf for quite a while now. My Qnap NAS shuts down when it's running on battery for more than 10 minutes but I never got around doing that for the other machines.

@trib@aus.social Since I was already running Mosquitto as #MQTT broker, I flashed #OpenMqttGateway on an #ESP32 module with a 433MHz receiver and got myself a non-smart weather station. Alternately you could use #RTL433 and an #RTLSDR dongle to receive the data (or data from your neighbors weather stations). My station is from LaCrosse, but there are other supported brands.

@joat@mastodon.scot So basically you checked whether you NAS successfully shots down when it's running on UPS for too long / the battery is running low?

@joat@mastodon.scot Mine are also from APC, but my NAS speaks NUT as does Telegraf, which I use to log the state.

@DrewKadel@social.coop I believe that a big contributing factor that causes people to expect much more from LLM like ChatGPT is that long ago someone thought it’s a good idea to apply the term “AI” / “artificial intelligence” to it. For years that wasn’t a problem, because even a layman playing around with an “AI” model would quickly discover its limitations and that it’s not even remotely “intelligent”. Let’s just call those things what they are: “machine learning” or “Large Language Models”.
