numoposting :xf_oddubb:
Puppo's [7::0] second rite is pth-44 (72541890) which is the longest path in the numogram but something I just noticed is that the second longest is pth-78 (2754189), which is the second rite of Unnunddo [9::2]. this is interesting because 9 = 0, so there's a very cryptic pairing between 7::0 and 9::2 since 7 and 2 are syzygies, and these two paths are consequently an inverse of each other since pth-44 starts at 7 while pth-78 starts with 2. you can only do this with the plex demons though because every lemur's netspan is paired by n::n-1 where n is a natural number, and there's no natural number n-1 for 0 obviously. also pth-44 being the longest path is neat since the highest meshtag is m#44, while pth-78 being the second highest is also interesting since 8::7 is the upper limit of the numogram before you leave the time-spiral entirely (or the warp which is sort of what weaves the time-spiral through the I-Ching cycle).

@nepetalactone@social.xenofem.me @unmind@social.xenofem.me when I first watched it I had really wanted to write a long review of it but I decided against it because I've been trying to resist the urge to talk-about other things instead of posting my own original thoughts on stuff (not that this hasn't resulted in me doing that haha... >_>). but the last two sentences of my letterboxd review were: "Like all good art, you aren't going to be spoonfed the point, and like all good horror, the point is entirely visceral and emotional, almost beyond words. You need to be able to let go and let yourself feel that kind of fear that you may not have experienced since being yourself a kid waking up in the middle of the night from a nightmare." something else I mentioned in my review is the Lovecraft quote about how fear is the oldest emotion and the oldest kind of fear is the fear of the unknown, which is why Skinamarink is not just a perfectly executed horror film but also understands horror as an affect better than few other things I've ever seen or read. all horror (channeling Thomas Ligotti rn) is ultimately about the paradoxical nature of abjection, of an eerily lively object, and precisely have *nothing* to do with "knowing" better. fear is fundamentally opposed to knowing and the experience of fear is an anticipation of the unknown, death being one of the most obvious and universal unknown, because such things being beyond words are beyond rational thought and language that from the perspective of a conscious and rational mind is essentially to be reduced to an object. but much like with intuitive thought, a productive imagination, paranormal phenomena, and the Dao, being a child is inherently a state of being able to be best acquainted with the purest forms of fear possible. that's part of what's so genius about Skinamarink as a horror film is that even if you've never had anything bad happen to you as a child (but especially if you have), everyone at some point in their lives has experienced that state of pure animal fear if only as a child having a nightmare and probably as an adult don't even remember it. it's not just universal in what it evokes but is even capable of channeling something that isn't even universal but properly Outside or *virtual* in the Deleuzian sense.

@rowb1t@social.xenofem.me @MURRUMUR@social.xenofem.me @unmind@social.xenofem.me the thing about It Follows is that it *is* in a sense about an STD but it's also a very midwit interpretation of the film. the Entity propagates through sex like a virus, but that tells you more about what the Entity can do, how it works, what the rules are, what sort of body it is :xf_ascended-spinoza: rather than what it's "about" or what it's a metaphor for. It Follows is another one of my top horror movies of the 21st century thus far and I think part of that is self-evident by how timeless it feels despite being probably the most paradigmatic example of the 2010s horror revival before it became reterritorialized by soy "elevated horror" A24 slow-burn psychological horror tropes. much like Skinamarink it gets at something about horror that transcends conventions that make us think of horror as a "genre" like fantasy or sci-fi and is more like, about the emotion of fear itself. but it has a very different take on it from Skinamarink. not exactly a deconstruction of horror but more like a decomposition of it, stripping-down the components of horror media to its basic parts then making something completely new where the horror is not in the "text" in either a modern or postmodern way (i.e. either symbolic of something or reflecting on the symbolism itself in a meta way) but rather creates a conceivable concept and then sets it loose to do fucked up things to humans. basically It Follows to me was riding on the wave of speculative realism and renewed interest in Lovecraft in the 2010s but made use of the conceptual framework of like "weird fiction" or "philosophical horror" like that of Lovecraft and Ligotti (and the first season of True Detective which came out right around then) in such a subtle and skillful way that hardly anyone to my knowledge has ever noticed and commented on how well-engineered it is.

I keep telling myself this is a very arrogant way of thinking and that I should remember to be humble so I don't get filtered by Choronzon but genuinely most humans are like stupider than animals.

cybernetics, systems theory and complexity theory (and Deleuze's milieu (including Stirner and Nietzsche) if you're deep into philosophy) are a better theoretical basis for critiques of the state than that of basically all ideologically anarchist writing I've ever come across
