@rowb1t@social.xenofem.me @nyx@social.xenofem.me they found ergot in vessels that held kykeon, and in the calculus of a skeleton nearby, and with the exploratory paper on using lye to inactivate the more toxic components (something the greeks did often and had the tools+knowledge), I'm leaning towards there being more than alleged at this point. That said, the mint thing is definitely alleged, but tracks with experiences that I've had using mint species and derived products to strengthen the experience.

I just think that it's neat. but you're right that we have a much better knowledgebase for LSA use in various mesoamerican cultures.

@nyx@social.xenofem.me I came across a study where they mixed ergot with lye to make it nontoxic, but a more interesting note is the addition of mint to the drink, as its been observed for a hotsecond that mint does *something* to LSA to make it more potent, which is something I did even as a kid with morning glory and mint oil because it was easier to obtain and cheaper than lsd for a very comparable trip. I'll read it when it gets here and then we should chat about it. I really do think a eleusinian mystery style practice would cultivate a really cool space for building occultures
