Grumpy old cuss trying to hang on to his fleeting youth via enjoying lots of games!
Also (of course) a lover of sci-fi, fantasy and all that good genre stuff.

I played Solarpunk so @scopique@gamepad.club didn't have to!

OK everyone breath easy. Feedly is back!
Here is a peaceful Outbound screenshot to help you let go of your RSS trauma.
Our IT dept has now blocked our (the web development team) use of devtools. Hit F12 and you get an error message saying we're not allowed to use them.
This company has it's head so far up it's own backside....
I may have sold Solarpunk short. I'd only played for a few hours when I wrote my post, and hadn' experienced bad weather yet.
Game has some intense thunderstorms that can destroy crops and stuff. Also you can get hit by lightning.
Also I now know what happens when you die (you drop all your stuff and respawn at where you initially started the game).
There must be a way to update your spawn point, though.
Time for a Friday afternoon, unedited, un-SEO-ized, blog post!
Topics: Neverness to Everness, Switch 2, and Outbound

Big changes at Kickstarter, particularly if you like spicy things
I feel like if this playlist resonates with you, you'll probably enjoy Mixtape. Honestly it's more visual novel than game but damn is it EVER plucking at my nostalgia heart strings. Also probably obvious but play it with headphones.
Feedly down for everyone or am I just cursed?
I'm lost and alone without my RSS feed friends!
Back when I played the Outbound demo I LOVED it but now that I'm playing the full game it isn't doing much for me.
I mean, I don't hate it or anything; it's fine.
But 1) I feel like my camper CRAWLS along and 2) I don't remember my character having a voice. It probably did & I don't remember it. But the voice feels so phony I find it distracting.
I'm becoming a VERY picky gamer, which is probably OK
Credits roll on Mixtape.
Having just picked up the Switch 2 there's no way I can justify a Steam Machine right now, but good luck to those ( @stargrace@gamepad.club !) throwing their name into the hat to get a chance to buy one!
Had to shut down my personal work PC again. It was almost 80F in my office yesterday. Too many computers and not enough A/C ducts!!!
I thought that Over The Hill (its in the current Next Fest) would be somewhat similar to Snowrunner. It isn't.
It is an almost exact Snowrunner clone only with low poly graphics. Even the controls are the same.
I'm cool with game devs being inspired by other games but this is SO similar that it gave me "the ick" as the kids say.
Nintendo e-shop has their sale going, like everyone else. At the same time, Amazon has $10 Nintendo e-shop cards for $8.98. (US only, I'm afraid).
It's only the $10 cards that are on sale as far as I can tell. And you might be limited to 2. But hey, 10% off is 10% off, right?
The backlogging has begun. I picked up Dragon's Dogma (the first one) on Switch because it was on sale for only $5
Wanted to get all my obligations out of the way so I could have a relaxing afternoon, so decided to take my long walk at 1:30PM. On a sunny June day in the south.
It isn't CRAZY hot (93F/34C) but it's still too hot for walking along the pavement in the direct sun. I shoulda gone to a nature trail, or waited until later in the afternoon.
These days my aim is 5K steps. In theory I'd like to get back to 10K but that's going to take a bit. 5K is hard enough. But at 5.5K for today now so.. win!?
Some gem put together the Mixtape Soundtrack on Google Music so that's been my soundtrack lately..

I miss those crazy kids!
Movie night tonight was The Running Man, the remake starring Glen Powell. We thought it was pretty good.
It was more serious than how I remember the original being, and at the same time the satire felt more biting even though the whole "TV networks control everything" message would work better as 'media companies' in a more general sense today. Or maybe that's just me since I don't want "live" TV at all anymore.
OTOH the gap between haves and have-nots is way larger today so...
