RE: https://mastodon.social/@arstechnica/117271423898808249 "The messages are the work of iLands, a company whose website appears to be substantially written by poorly trained AI. While the independently minded Mastodon admins have largely blocked the bots, iLands agents have found homes on both Bluesky and X." And THAT is (one of the reasons) why we are here.

Impressions: Control Resonant It’s finally here! While I like melee combat a lot less than Control’s primarily ranged combat, Resonant ups the ante in Remedy’s SCP-like setting, and I’m loving it. https://scopique.com/2026/09/24/impressions-control-resonant/

Well, EQL fixed my audio issue, so that's nice.

On the other hand, someone told me to go somewhere to do something, but I forget who, what, where, and why. It's not in my quest log, so is it even really a quest?

Hostility of the Video Games Space

Sometimes it feels like video game designs are hostile to players, and sometimes it feels like we players are hostile to ourselves.

Replying to

@stargrace@gamepad.club OK so it seems that the "passthrough" is ultimately the culprit in both cases, meaning that it's not going to be an option, I guess. Both Chrome and Firefix barf on two different issues related to OBS settings and what it sends to Owncast, so I think I'll need to head back to the drawing board.

Once More Into the Breach Things are looking OK for this round of Owncast testing. I can only stream in 1920×1080 because of the cost, but as an experiment, it’s something I’ve been wanting to try. https://scopique.com/2026/07/01/once-more-into-the-breach/

Replying to

@Tipa@gamepad.club I'm almost done with the SyFy series Haven, based on another King story, and same deal. I think Hollywood likes the small town concepts, but doesn't give a rats ass about the actual small town authenticity.

Replying to

@rogeredwards@gamepad.club I was going to put a comment in there but then freaked myself out because it's a WAY larger topic deserving of more than I was going to say. I also would like a one-stop-shop for all things social. Right now it's like visiting several grocery stores because no one shop offers everything I need.

Tools in the Toolbox – Mithos Mithos is not a VTT. It’s a tool for GMs to artfully track player info, story, and map action for in-person or other online TTRPG games. https://scopique.com/2026/06/27/tools-in-the-toolbox-mithos/
