I didn't come here to argue over whether software freedom is political, I came here, in part, to support it. If you're more interested in forcing a square peg into a round hole, have at it. I stand by my statement that it's not a right or left issue. If you think it's a "social justice warrior" issue, that's fine. A bit extreme, but if that helps you get on board, who am I to argue?

Generally, political would mean concerned with government or governing. That's not the case, IMO, with software freedom. What I meant is that it's not a singular "right" or "left" issue.

@yoasif@mastodon.social It's about freedom, but I wouldn't categorize it as a social justice warrior project. Software freedom is apolitical, or ought to be. It is, in many cases, better technology, though that's not always the case.

It just seems to me that saying "it's political" in some ways does it a disservice. That puts it in a very contentious box, where things tend to get branded one way or another. Software freedom transcends politics. I don't quite know how to describe it, but it's more than a political statement to me. That's all I was trying to say.
