We need a Green New Deal!!
"This trade war should jolt us out of our reliance on volatile fossil fuels and accelerate our transition to clean, secure and reliable energy.
Last year, China and India installed so much solar power that it exceeded all new demand for the first time: in other words, fossil fuel use has stopped growing for the two biggest populations on earth.
This year, the IEA predicts that global investments in renewables will hit $2.2 trillion. Twice as much as fossil fuels.
The global economy is in the midst of a renewable energy revolution and here in Canada we are buying a new pipeline for an industry making record profits.
Make it make sense.
The only energy sovereignty lies in clean energy: no war can cut off supply, no bully can threaten or tariff it, the inputs are free forever.
Canada, let’s get to work building true energy independence."

"The Iranian navy, which has been destroyed eight times, closed the Strait of Hormuz again, because the United States for the seventh time won the war that wasn’t a war, so the United States can open the Strait of Hormuz that was open before the not war.
The not war that started to get the uranium that was completely obliterated, so that the Iranians can’t build the nuclear bomb that they weren’t building for the not war that the United States started.
Then the United States which has nuclear weapons threatening to use nuclear weapons to prevent Iran from having nuclear weapons because having nuclear weapons is dangerous.
If the United States saw what the United States is doing in the United States, the United States would invade the United States to liberate the United States from the tyranny of the United States."
"We have enough parking for one entire family!" sounds like a weird flex (for a family facility) until you realize that this is 3x the micromobility parking afforded by most facilities. It also amounts to about 3/4ths of the space used by the single pickup truck in the background. Which could fit an entire family if used for such, but most often is not.
This is just an uneventful weekday. During family events the bikes are just strewn all over this area with no place to lock up.

Even moreso for Canada, which in my day was taught as a "patchwork" of cultures as opposed to the US "melting pot" of assimilation. Yet certain (right-wing) politicians continue to claim Whiteness as "Canadian values". Note: In my travels I have found the US to be just as culturally diverse as Canada, but I'm just repeating what we were taught as kids in the 80's, and how the differemce in our natiom's approach was desceibed; that open diversity, not assimilation, is what makes us Canadian and gives us our "Canadian identity".
Fuck the likes of Don Cherry, Stephen Harper, Pierre Poilievre, and Danielle Smith who set us up with Nationalist White/Christian suprremacy.

Meanwhile, Zionists chase me around with a pickup truck just or wearing a keffiyeh...
"When we say there's a material difference between being uncomfortable and being unsafe, this is exactly what we mean.
Mayim Bialik saw a man wearing a "Zionism is Racism" shirt in the parking lot of her favourite vegan restaurant—
and immediately imagined a violent attack that never happened.
No one touched her. No one threatened her. No one harmed her children.
A grown, five-foot-four mother saw a political message she didn't like, and her immediate instinct was to broadcast her hypothetical, imagined trauma to the world as though she had survived a war zone.
Zionists have been so culturally protected that many genuinely cannot distinguish between having their politics challenged and being physically unsafe.
A political t-shirt becomes an existential threat. A stranger in a parking lot becomes a near-traumatic event.
Meanwhile, Palestinians don't have to imagine the violence being inflicted on them.
The bombs are real. The starvation is real. The displacement is real.
Yet somehow, the woman with the podcast microphone, the celebrity platform, and every institutional protection imaginable-- is still asking us to centre the chill that ran down her spine because she saw a piece of cotton she didn't like.
Nothing happened, Mayim.
Your children witnessed nothing...except political dissent.
Nobody threatened you. Nobody hurt you. Nobody touched you.
You saw a political message you didn't like, imagined the rest, and now expect the world to participate in your performance of victimhood while Palestinians endure horrors that require no imagination whatsoever.
The narcissism -- and the immense harm it causes -- are absolutely off the charts..."

"Dear MAGA Americans [and MapleMAGA Canadians],
I was a devoted member of MAGA nation for seven years; it made me feel I was part of something important: a movement that was trying to save American democracy.
But starting in 2021, I realized I had been mistaken. It took me a full year to finally break away. During that time, I came to understand that MAGA is sustained by a series of myths that are intended to create perpetual feelings of desperation and panic.
Succumbing to these predatory myths does not mean you are unintelligent, weak, or lack good character and morals. I have a Bachelor’s degree; have been a working professional my entire life; am a family man; and consider myself a relatively honest and intelligent person. I think the same about you.
I understand the reasons you have for supporting MAGA. And I know many of us traveled different paths to get there. I gravitated to Donald Trump because I have always been suspicious of our two-party system, and I saw him as the right man at the right time.
I have a sense that some of you have quietly left MAGA already, or are increasingly regretful, confused and scared. All of this can be doubly upsetting, since some of your sincerely-held beliefs may have alienated you from friends and family. That certainly happened to me.
It’s perfectly OK to feel this way; leaving MAGA was a tumultuous roller coaster of a process for me. It may be one of the most difficult endeavors you embark upon. In the end, it brought me an inner peace, and a newfound clarity about what is happening in our beloved country.
I founded this organization, Leaving MAGA, because I wanted to create a safe, non-judgmental community for those who leave MAGA, as well as for those who are having doubts about, or remorse over, their devotion to Trump and MAGA.
Our Leaving MAGA community will celebrate how acknowledging mistakes empowers you and America.
It’s difficult for a democracy to function well when millions are estranged from those closest to them.
You do not deserve to have your anxieties about change exploited. You deserve to know the truth. And with Leaving MAGA, you don’t have to feel you would be alone if you leave the movement.
Leaving MAGA is possible. Recognizing that we were wrong, and acting on that knowledge, makes us all more invested in democracy and in the continued work of perfecting our union. Contact us here if you want to talk.
Sincerely, and humbly yours,
Rich"
Equality isn't something dreamt up in a lab. For me, it's a lifestyle. Every day I wear roughly the same amount of stuff in each pocket, balanced in proportion and weight. Don't just believe in it: Live it! #EqualWeights4All
Sad, but not surprising. B'nai Brith is a hateful zionist organization, not a respectable Jewish organization. We fought long and hard to end housing discrimination over half a century ago. In the 60's there were still many places which would not rent to Blacks or Jews, with entire "No Jews" neighbourhoods. Never Again means Never Again for Anyone.
'I asked if Jews were prioritized or given exclusive access. They replied: “Before it was a priority, but recently, the landlord actually made it as a mandatory.”
I replied saying this was too bad, as I’m not Jewish. The agent added, “I know, but it’s the landlord that changed the policy.”
BB doesn’t state anywhere on its housing page that its apartment buildings are only or primarily for Jewish people. In contrast, the oldest of the two senior buildings is described in a 1989 Ottawa Citizen article as an “apartment building for seniors of all races and religions,” and a 1988 Toronto Star article stated the second senior building will “serve all faiths.”
...
The Ontario Human Rights Code states that every person has a right to equal treatment in housing without facing discrimination on protected grounds such as “ethnic origin” and “creed.”
A page about renters’ rights on the City of Toronto website states: “A landlord is not allowed to ask [...] your religion or ethnic background,” and, “A landlord must adhere to the Human Rights Code and cannot select or refuse tenants based on: [...] ethnic origin, religion.”'
(IOW, seniors-only housing is perfectly legal and common, but discriminating against non-Jews is not.)

No comment needed, although I will add that he is referencing I Samuel 15, which is the same in the Christian Old Testament as the Jewish Torah, but does not exist in the Muslim Quran (meaning it could not be verified). It's a blood feud between two sects of Canaanites, Amalekites and Israelites (which is not the same as Israeli). Palestinians are Canaanites too, but not related to Amalekites. Israel uses Amalekite as a metaphor for a completely different blood feud they started themselves when invading Palestinian homelands in the modern era. There is no historical or biblical connection except to say, "These are the people we now hate, and we have killed people before." God never told them to kill Palestinians, just like God never told anybody to kill queers. Also, Amalekites are described as a "barbaric" tribe which matches the slurs Israeli use for Palestinians, even though Palestinians are not actually barbarians. Like a radical preacher quoting scriptures that don't actually talk about what he's preaching, just to stir people up and weaponize religion for hate and division.
I've seen too much antisemitic hate in Canada too, against Jews who speak out against genocide, including but not limited to the new Federal NDP leader and his wife (much more so his wife, probably because of the intersectionality of being a woman as well as Jewish).
This is why I disagree when people say, "there is not a rise in antisemitism, just criticism of Israel". No, I do see a rise in antisemitism, but from those who are accusing others for speaking up.
Call out antisemitism loud and clear, but don't leave out where it comes from.
To dismiss the rise in antisemitism rather than flushing out the real causes, gives space for the racist theory that the cause is pro-Palestine activism, whenever antisemitism is seen.
(Which then leads to hateful anti-Palestine attacks like I've experienced.)
