Maybe I’m weird I still use RSS to this day (via NetNewsWire) and enjoy it very much. Certainly more than most social media apps. The only annoyances are sites that don’t have full content feeds (only article summaries) or major sites that flood you with 100s of posts a day.

Going into random social media app or search for discovery tends to lead to slop, paywalls, etc. that RSS bypasses. The missing layer is quality discovery. Kagi does better than Google on that. Mastodon certainly superior to most mainstream social media.

@carnage4life@mas.to I love making software and think AI agents are a win. It’s no less a skill or labor of love. But gone is the tedium of say manually parsing deeply nested JSON.

@stroughtonsmith@mastodon.social I use mine maybe once a week. If they could solve for the battery drain in sleep/suspend mode it’d be a huge win for me and I’d likely start using it even more. Too often I find myself having to charge it before use. But when I’m in it, damn that thing is cool. Especially having spatial photos of the kiddo.

@scottsthoughts@better.boston I think this is largely a function of the new “evolv” scanners proliferating instead of using magnetometers. These things are notorious for false positives so the venues all decided to just implement these absurd bag policies to realize the value of their investment.

Every morning I walk the young child to his day care for drop off and then go running with my Apple Watch Ultra 3. When I first tried I learned I usually had to manually trigger the podcast downloads on the Watch at home (or if I forget then on the Watch while walking) or just carry phone with me. I know it's not typical but being able to leave iPhone home is a nice luxury as a runner. TY so much for this.

@pluralistic over the summer we had a flight cancelled (London —> Boston) and they wanted to rebook us through Porto on TAP, even though we found direct seats from Heathrow on Virgin. We bought the tickets and customer service denied compensation. We threatened to litigate and they folded.

@forteller graphhopper probably best bet for this kind of thing.
