Today, the next release of monocles chat is finally ready and published, and will be available in stores in the next few days. It is a huge update with three fundamental new features:
Stories, Feeds, and Phone log.
In addition to many other improvements and features such as account sorting and improved message deletion, this update also brings new support for multiple XEPs. Thanks to the standardization of XMPP, it is now possible to interact socially with other XMPP platforms and messengers. The new features bring more functions that are fully compatible with the XMPP web platform @movim@piaille.fr Create your stories today or make a post for your contacts in monocles chat or Movim.

A new feature will come to monocles chat: Ephemeral Messages.

Built on XEP-0466, Ephemeral Messages let you send messages that automatically disappear after a set time, giving you predictable message lifetimes and less long-term clutter. This is great for one-time codes, event details, quick confirmations, temporary links, or draft content. It can also offer privacy and security advantages by limiting how long sensitive information is accessible and reducing stored copies of short-lived messages. Stay tuned!

Today, on Digital Independence Day, the new monocles chat update has finally been released on F-Droid ( https://f-droid.org/ ) 🎉 . Try it out for free and use the sovereign and independent XMPP between different messengers.

Besides other improvements, the upcoming release will have a vcard profile editor and also will show the vcard profile as QR code to simply share your profile like a business card.

Did you know monocles chat supports pinned messages? You can pin multiple messages, stacked so the most recent appears on top. In the next release you’ll also be able to jump straight to a pinned message’s location in the conversation and also pin images and files.

- Pinned messages stay visible and are easy to find later.
- You can pin multiple messages at once.
- Pins are useful for action items, decisions, and deadlines to keep conversations focused.
- Save frequently used links, instructions, images or files.
