After lusting after @Edent@mastodon.social 's Chuwi Minibook at #OggCamp2026 I've just bought one from CEX for £150. Bargain when on ebay the lower spec ones are £100 more! So excited

@garythewilliams@mastodon.social probably a good idea as I've realised that it makes the trackpad go a bit wonky! Have found this post that seems a good guide https://www.reddit.com/r/Chuwi/comments/1oi5vhx/installation_and_configuration_guide_for_chuwi/

@andypiper@macaw.social Oh I'm sorry you missed it! My slides were pretty brief (made them on my phone lol) but you can have a look here https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1UdEgbVm3LdrsJnCc_TIchSeSsMGURk-miYLRb1REJ9s/edit?usp=sharing

@garythewilliams@mastodon.social so I've not completely solved it yet but have installed this https://github.com/petitstrawberry/minibook-support which works but has a bug that it sets it to portrait mode when you unfold it. This person has found a hacky workaround which looks like it should work! https://github.com/petitstrawberry/minibook-support/issues/30#issuecomment-4215706103

@awfulwoman@indieweb.social @garythewilliams@mastodon.social @Edent@mastodon.social yeah sorry, it's really cool. I think you need one. There's a bit of fucking around to get the tablet mode to work though (edit: on linux, it works fine on windows)

Here's a screenshot of the UI in case the yaml is hard to follow (lots of device ids make it confusing!)

@m@martinh.net @@awfulwoman@indieweb.social @garythewilliams@mastodon.social Seeing @Edent@mastodon.social pull it out of his pocket was partly what sold it to me. Sadly my clothes either come with no pockets or tiny useless lady pockets
