Portland, Oregon, Covid, urbanism, city planning, dogs, crows, insects, weather, nature, food, flowers, photography, house projects. Some politics, sorry.
Stopping to smell the flowers is strictly prohibited.
Before and after the mineral wool installation in our attic today. Alas, we had to say goodbye to some of the beautiful 90-year-old wood.
The drywaller has gone a bit extra with masking off the attic. I understand throwing paper on any surfaces adjacent to installation, but the dude put paper over the RAM board that was already protecting the floor.
At least he didn't use plastic, or I'd be worried that he is preparing to murder someone.
These displeased dogs could not properly supervise the internet repairman.
Saw some nature channel action going on that is too cool to wait until #MacroMonday.

How does someone take the combined awesomeness of bikes and data collection and turn it into such an ick.
I was skeptical of this @TechConnectify@mas.to video title and that Alec's water heater is cooler than mine, since I installed basically the same make and model of #HeatPump water heater in my house almost 5 years ago. However, his is just using a 120V circuit and isn't taking up two slots in his electrical panel, so I guess he is actually cooler.
A bit of a #ThickTrunkThursday postscript, but now that the weather is nice in #Portland, we are finally able to use the beautiful table that #BurlAndGrain in #HillsboroOR made from our beloved #HoneyLocust that fell over in the ice storm two years ago!
Time for the annual washing of my #ToyotaTacoma now that the #Maple trees are nearly done with dropping pollen and flower remnants on everything below them.
One of the many diligent workers in my compost pile.

Got a few clear shots (front and back) of a tiny green #caterpillar on a blade of grass, before it started waving its front around trying to figure out where to go.
We brought visiting family to the #FosterFoodCarts yesterday, which turned out to be a mistake since almost all the carts are closed on Tuesday, so I went across the street to #IshtarGate. It kinda looked like a sketchy hole in the wall between some dumpsters and a tire shop, with just a computer on the sidewalk to order from instead of a person. It took them quite some time to make the food, but it ended up being the best falafel I've had in #Portland.
This guy's idea of #MonopolyFraming (a continuous thermal barrier between internal and external framing) kinda makes me wish we cut the ends off our house's rafters, though otherwise we are close to this method with the exterior foam insulation we installed.
I've been resisting buying adorable electric #microcars, but this one might just be too adorable. Look at that boat tail!
A rare #MirrorMonday #MacroMonday combination, since this #spider was so shiny you can see a reflection of the circular led light diffuser.
Would have been nice for a school not to remain named after a racist until 2026, but at least it was finally changed.

The #GuardrailGuy is usually quite matter of fact, considering how his daughter was killed by a faulty guardrail, but he got emotional when showing how this truck was speared by a guardrail.
Edging my lawn and wondering how much of suburban development is fueled by the deep-seeded psychological need for humans to defend a plot of land from the encroachment of nature.
