@christianp This is a lovely work & gives me hope for the people who could be able to participate in events who otherwise would not be.
However I am surprised & saddened to see no discussion of ventilation & other safety considerations for the immunocompromised & those who are carers for them.
I consider: Will the air be filtered? Is there a COVID/etc policy clearly stated & masking encouraged & normalized at the event? Will there be outdoor air or equivalent places to eat/drink/unmask?
We, humanity, cannot afford not to radically change course toward lower emissions, because the current climate trajectory is going to radically change them to worse outcomes if we don't.

@mhoye@cosocial.ca Agreed. And beyond that, I do not want to be a person who becomes accustomed to being surrounded by fundamentally unequal and disposable assistants to whom I have no obligation to think of situations from their point of view.
That is a muscle I am actively working to atrophy not build.
This is especially important to me as I use more delivery services while I recover from Achilles tendonitis. Appreciate humans, especially those who could become invisible to your mind.

Even a mention of being welcoming to those who mask, including photos of masked people, and having some outdoor air or filtered space is hugely helpful.
Worth at least a bit of effort, since to just give up is to say 'it can't get better' when in fact we know it can, it's not hard, and it benefits all attendees. No one wants to catch "con crud", after all. 😄

My takeaway from this excellent essay feels a lot more actionable than just 'resist'.
Speak truth. Be decent.
Celebrate even the smallest wins for what is good in humanity.
Never take the side of the powerful against the powerless.
Send all your help downward. Convert privilege into opportunity for those who need it.
Be moved into action by those who are giving more than you are.
(The muscle behind those messages is the antifascism/antibillionairism of the full essay.)
