I just killed off my #Bluesky account today. I started out on it about a month ago to see what things were like over there. At first, it briefly felt nostalgic to me; I was having memories of 2007-2010 twitter when it wasn't blatantly corporate.
But, that feeling faded kinda quickly when I encountered Bluesky's algorithm. I was seeing the effect it had on users; there was an urgency for attention, jockeying for the quickest take on the trending topic, and the underlying quest for endless dopamine. People weren't communicating as much as they were performing for reactions.
I tried to find my groove, or my people... but I felt like I was in alien territory. When I caught myself looking up how to build a following on on that platform, that was the moment I pumped the brakes.
Who I am shouldn't require a strategy on how to win over internet strangers. I am the person I am because I am confident and comfortable with who I've become.
I closed the app, went back to the #fediverse.
I haven't logged back in to Bluesky in a few weeks.
Today, I decided to permanently logout.
On a quick break at work. Since I have closed my pixelfed and loops accounts over ai #slop concerns, I'll share things here instead. Don't know what kind of flowers these are, but they're pretty. #Bloomscrolling #pnw #Oregon

In the last 20 minutes, I've been seeing a fair number of posts that include messages that focus on #love. Love for self, others, the #environment.
Any of the big #corpo #SocialMedia platforms wouldn't let this trend because their business model is betting on engagement from the darkest places the human heart and mind can muster.
But not here. And that is one thing I love very much.
In the next 10 years, Rob Zombie's career will fizzle out since he's trapped himself into a caricature of his own making. However, he will only fade away briefly...
And then, as if fate itself manifested it from some twisted divinity.... he will assume his rightful place...

So, today I'm on a mission. I've had my #adderall, therefore this is not a side quest. I have decided that I can't really trust #veganrecipes I keep finding online. In the past week alone I've found myself making some horrid shit that I had no choice but to eat. Even if the food does grow on trees (<-- lazy vegan pun), the money does not.
So, I'm installing https://kitchenowl.org/ on my #homelab server and will be taking control of this. Like seriously y'all, I can't be trusted to produce safe food and I'm not even the FDA...

I brought up loops because it will probably get #sloppified as well.
