This podcast on the intersection on AI& militarisation and how it's the buyout they've been waiting for is quite well done. Both Naomi Klein and the hosts (@emilymbender@dair-community.social and @alex@climatejustice.social) are legends!

@cstross@wandering.shop kinda funny to claim that introspection has no meaning, while talking in a podcast about why you do things a certain way and why people are successful.

@randahl@mastodon.social is that the same left wing that did the whole we're green but we're anti-immigrants? Since that gave DK one of the worst anti-immigration laws. Or is it actually left wing?

@randahl@mastodon.social I think it was originally added as an anti-phishing matter, to avoid people thinking they're still in 'google land'.
But yeah, it's the same trick as the search engine does.

@molly0xfff so, these look very pretty, I've used Microsoft ergonomic keyboard for many years now.
How does one know which style of these fancy keyboards would fit? How did you know you would like this concave shape instead of a regular tenting approach?

@randahl@mastodon.social ah thanks for clarifying!
It's just that when other people write about victories in NL against the far-right extremist by parties like VVD (Rutte fame). They often forget to mention how right leaning those winners are, and that they tend to just package their racism in a more palpable format.
So I'm truly happy to hear that DK is making a turn left. It's one of my favorite countries to visit, but the racism was always off-putting.

@maaikees@sw-development-is.social great article, true on every count.
I have a related question to history, which I have not studied (I went for software engineering, which is not engineering..).
What I was taught about history (in Netherlands) are specific highlights, like black plague, roman empire, kindgoms in Europe, etc. However, there are huge gaps between many of the events I've learned about. So I have a thought, that I want to read more about, but don't know the search term (and Google broke search). So I'm not asking you: hey please explain how I'm wrong, but merely, how's this thing called??
My thought (maybe the same):
Could it be that our society only retells the stories that either explain why we are how we are now (like no more rule of kingdom) or what has always happened (look: war, genocide, people exploiting other people). And therefore most people have a very biased view of history. So anything that happens now shouldn't be explained away by our limited coverage of history.
Like yes we have had wars, but we also had long stretches without war, but those are boring, so those years are skipped. But it's not as if we're only going to war all the time.
Similar with the position of women in our society, there have been societies where there was a more equal balance. But most of repeated history is about the times where men were in power. Solidifying the idea that it's the way things have always been.
Or with our relationship to nature.
Sorry for long rant, but thought maybe you have some good search terms/book tips where I can read more to better understand how I'm most likely wrong.

@maaikees@sw-development-is.social Aah, yes I started that a few years back. I should resume that book.
Crap, now I don't know how much of that book has formed this idea. It might be related 😂
