I've got a linguistic question: In the language you grew up with, what does a baby first call their parents? And what is that language, and location on the globe? Boosts appreciated, to get more responses.

You also need to chip in to server costs, on whatever community server you are active on! This shit isn't free to run. The people who volunteer to fight off nazis and other creeps, and deal with threats from various sources, um...it would be nice I we didn't have to worry if we can still afford to pay server expenses. You leave a server, and expect somebody to pay for keeping your data there? WTF? Community socials cost money. Are you helping to pay the bills?

One more thing...sorry...but when I got my Cancer diagnosis, I started working on making vis.social sustainable without me. We have not yet accomplished that. I've been continually building a team of amazing volunteer moderators. They are amazing. The part I haven't been as good at? It's that I haven't been as pushy about community members helping to cover community expenses. I would sleep a lot easier if our finances didn't rely on me covering the gap.

Aside from running a community server, it would be amazing if greater fedi folks would actually support artists, and actually purchase artworks. Or buy indie-games. Or buy indie-published books. Spend money on the creations that creative people post here. Or they will stop participating here. They will stop posting daily drawings. They will nope-out, even more than they already have.

Thus ends this rant, as an artist who used to work in tech, and pays most of this servers expenses, even though I now bring in an artist's wages...which is essentially nothing. Our server expenses are almost $500/month. I can't be expected to keep paying the gap. OK, now, I end my rant.
