@txtx@mastodon.social The primary problem with Poles and Ukrainians is that in their majority they have emotional control of a 5 years old and zero ability to verify anything. The amount of Russian fakes about Ukraine shared by Poles on social media is stunning, only two days ago I was going around on Twitter and explaining to Ukrainians that the video they furiously shared about “Poles want Lviv back” was produced by a Russian journalist (!) living in Tiraspol (!) but they did not give a shit because they liked how it hits Poles. In socio-cultural evolutionary terms I’m more and more convinced that the Western Slavic nations simply never developed sufficient statehood instinct to be able to be able to defend their statehood in long term. We simply prefer short-term excitation, childish emotions and silly utopias over long-term pragmatic political work. As result, we’re doomed to repeat what our equally moronic ancestors did in XVII and XX century and continue fighting with ourselves to the joy of Moscow. Poles are even more ridiculous here, because there’s now 50/50 split and one half is fighting the other, plus some are fighting Ukraine, plus some are fighting EU. In the long term however, past Polish governments had enough brains to get us into NATO and EU, while Ukrainians for decades preferred to suspended between EU and Russia, until they finally lost Crimea and kind of saw what’s going on - for a moment, because shortly after all the well-known shit was back - like corruption, “Dnipro call centers”, bribes to avoid mobilisation while politicians send children abroad. And NATO nor EU were never priority, because that would mean getting rid of the above. @aho@mastodon.social

@aho@mastodon.social I very much recommend this book, and especially this chapter, to understand the nature of this “darker side of its history”: https://zustrich.org/old/lib/bulba/bulba_255victimes.htm#a2551 Talking to Ukrainians I have an impressions 90% had absolutely zero clue about these events like UPA killing more moderate Ukrainians, or OUN/UPA ideology and their idea of a future Ukrainian state - and I very much doubt you’d like to live in it. @txtx@mastodon.social

As I have written many times, it has long been quite obvious that #Trump and #MAGA are genuinely fascinated by #Putin’s ‘decisiveness’. The main problem is that Putin very deliberately makes strategic mistakes, simply because he can. The second problem – for Trump – is that Putin spent 20 years building his system, dismantling the courts, the free media, parliamentary democracy and the federal structure of the Russian Federation – whereas Trump would like to achieve all this in just a few years, in a completely different society. Article from 2022, but just seen it: Trump “Admired” Putin’s Ability to Kill Whomever He Wanted: Ex-Staffer https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/03/donald-trump-vladimir-putin-murder

Once again, there’s lots of “rational” arguments being raised on “why #Putin would attack Europe”, especially that he’s stuck in #Ukraine hopelessly. They key misunderstanding is that Putin does not think in terms of the rational interests of the Russian state – if that were the case, he would not have annexed Crimea, let alone started a full-scale war, but would simply have been quietly counting the money from the sale of hydrocarbons. Putin thinks solely within the framework of a world of paranoia, phobias, cognitive distortions and megalomania (“we are like Peter the Great”) that he has constructed for himself, in which an attack on NATO is entirely justified. Let me remind you of his words, I believe from around 2024 – “we will go to heaven as martyrs, whilst they will simply croak”. This is the logic of ISIS – it may seem absurd or incomprehensible to us… but it is a fact. It drove ISIS do terrible things and ultimately lose, but this rather easy to predict perspective did not prevent them from doing them in the first place. At the same time, #Russia, as an authoritarian state, lacks the mechanisms typical of democracies to curb a leader’s cognitive issues, because all its institutions – from the National Security Council to the Duma – are mere rubber-stamp machines for Putin’s decisions, as was perfectly evident on 21 February 2022.

Excerpts from today’s post by Daniil Tulenkov, a #Russia soldier and author of the book Storm-Z https://t.me/thulenkov2026/2098 Lex, my first company commander, was a proponent of a particular brand of fascist, Nietzschean ideology. He drew a clear distinction between ‘biological waste’ and ‘full-fledged human beings’. (…) He was, nevertheless, devout and would quote from the Gospel. (…) In March 2024, back in Moscow, my third company commander, Lis, showed me a video that Lex’s henchmen had recorded in Berdyansk. They had broken into a private house and were torturing a local family. Two of Lex’s henchmen were sitting on the sofa with their trousers down, whilst the husband and wife were performing oral sex on them. Lex himself watched the scene, reclining in an armchair in the style of Don Corleone and smoking a cigarette. The screaming and crying children were held nearby, forced to watch their parents being abused. Tulenkov goes on to describe how Leks subsequently got a bit too carried away and began dealing in weapons, showing no respect for Kadyrov’s men. As a result, he was detained by the FSB, and whilst he was at it, they ‘pinned’ the Berdyansk case on him: Lex, who until then had been squirming and writhing like a snake in a frying pan, suddenly pulled himself together; his voice grated like metal. “I was weeding out the Ukrainianness from these children. I was turning them into Russians.” Tulenkov highlights, the sole reason for Lex arrest was him violating the internal rules of the Russian army system, that is illegal arms trading without a kick back for the commanders, and torturing one Chechen guy from “Akhmat” units. The Berdyansk case did not violate these rules. https://t.me/thulenkov2026/2099

@txtx@mastodon.social I don’t think there’s some kind of “mutual escalation” here. Zelensky made a decision to name a military unit after UPA - it was his decision, made in public. Polish side - in a quite unusual unity - said it’s honoring a military organisation known for mass war crimes on Poles, but I’m not aware of any “ultimatums” it has raised towards Ukraine. Quite the opposite, Tusk (PM) statements highlighted the strategic alliance between Poland and Ukraine and the need for continued military support, while also criticizing the UPA decision in a very diplomatic language. At the Ukraine’s diplomacy level, there were numerous attempts to deescalate - minister Sybiha, prime minister Svyrydenko all made very reasonable statements. However, Zelensky seems to run a separate foreign policy in this aspect - and it’s possible he’s even entitled to do so, because Ukraine is a presidential-parliamentary republic unlike Poland, where president’s role is very limited. Or more precisely, it’s limited legally but not in PR terms, unfortunately. He can’t do much legally, but he can cause a lot of harm my mere making statements. The publication of the PAC-3 donation to Ukraine in my opinion was 100% Russian disintegration operation - they leaked it to right-wing politicians in Poland and the government was forced to respond to that. Why is Ukrainian president escalating in such a situation is well beyond me, but the fact that his ratings have benefited from this scandal - just as Nawrocki’s, who also runs a separate foreign policy, although mostly on words - suggests that both are simply in electoral campaign mode already and don’t give a shit about foreign relations with “weak” neighbours like Poland. It also suggests there will be even more escalation between the presidents, while our governments will scratch their heads on how to do any damage control in such an absurd situation.

Immigration control
Another discussion where someone cites the rise of alt-right in Europe… AfD: 30% FPÖ: 30% LePen: 30% Reform UK: 25-30% …only to summarise it with a convenient argument that “at least 30-40 percent of any given population is fucked in the head”. It’s extremely simplistic and ignorant excuse. There are specific social reasons why AfD etc rise in polls. Merkel’s “Wir schaffen das” was one of them, the European left abandoning their usual voter base - local working people - for niche minority groups was nother. Voters see that and choose those who resonate to their problems. I highlight the word “resonate”, because they are not solving them, that’s the essence of populism. What response I get? Another both arrogant and ignorant excuse: So concentration camps for nonwhites solve everything? No more fascism? I’m explaining why voters move to these parties, not endorsing their methods. If anyone is to blame, it’s the morons from mainstream parties who for decades chose to ignore these reasons. And no, please don’t try to create a false choice between “zero immigration check” and “concentration camps” as the only alternatives. This is one of the manipulative eristic tricks that muted all rational debate one these real social challenges for years. That’s the very hysterical attitude that resulted in mainstream parties hiding their head in the sand… and allowing the problem to grow. Another response: You know, those ‘problems’ have existed for decades. Centuries even. There was never one pure blooded population with 0 exchange. Firstly, it has nothing to with race purity. Manipulative projecting someone’s racist ideas on everyone talking of immigration is another classic trick that muted that debate. Want a simple solution? Request that all migrants, legal or illegal, from US or Asia, simply sign declaration they recognise the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.[^1] Can you see anything racist or discriminatory in it? Most likely you’ve never read it yourself, because being born in Europe you’ve been for years socialised in the spirit of the Charter - equality, rule of law, freedom of speech, non-discrimination. And the argument that the challenge existed for centuries is true, but only in XX century Europe switched to a delusional policy where ancient religious or tribal habits are expected to be treated as equal with all the European values we built this successful civilisation on. Misinterpreted extreme “multiculturalism” created an absurd situation where everyone is expected to follow the Charter by default… except for those who don’t know of it or reject it. More absurdly this rejection should be protected by the very Charter. I’m not talking about forcing people’s religion or culture… except for parts dramatically incompatible with European human rights. Things like precedence of religious or tribal laws over civil law, blood revenge, female genital mutilation - you move to EU, you must reject them or stay away. #LetsEncrypt has suspended issuing certificates after it identified security issues in one of its roots (!)[^1]

We temporarily disabled certificate issuance, deployed a configuration change to prevent future issuance from the cross-signed Gen Y hierarchy, and then re-enabled issuance. Certificate revocation and CRL generation remains functional for Gen Y certificates.

A few days ago #DigiCert was hacked with a Windows (!) screensaver (!)[^2]

I cannot but remind that both organisations are part of the #WebTrust cartel who had last year unrolled a massive “grassroots” smear campaign against EU #QWAC certificates, presenting them as “security and privacy threat”, whereas from both legal and technical point of view QWAC is much more secure:

#Ukraine Budanov[^1] about relations with #Poland Budanov had warned publicly that the standoff’s worst moment might still be ahead — a forecast he repeated without softening. With the July 11 anniversary of the Volyn tragedy now less than a week away, he said his information points to a “whole series of, as I see it, immature escalatory steps” still being prepared in Warsaw, and expects the friction to continue accordingly. (…) No offense to Poland, but it’s somewhat more powerful than Poland — and we didn’t accept its ultimatum either. Yes, it was hard, it was bad, there was a lot of blood. But we didn’t accept even their ultimatum. So why would anyone think we’d accept something else from another side? You don’t negotiate with us through ultimatums. Meanwhile[^2] The Polish government carried out a discreet transfer of surface-to-air missiles from the MIM-104 Patriot long range air defence system to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, with this reported by multiple regional sources to have occurred in the spring of 2026. I don’t think you need to be extremely insightful to see where this is going. Previously I avoided the topic of #Poland #Ukraine row over UPA, but today general Kyrylo Budanov announced the following[^1] No one will ever again dictate to Ukrainians which heroes to honor, which holidays to celebrate, or which history to study. Our ancestors fought for centuries for this right to freedom of choice and national independence, and it is for this very right that our warriors are shedding their blood today. Their memory must live on forever. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada the draft law “On the Ukrainian National Pantheon.” This is a decisive and much-needed step toward restoring historical justice, consolidating our society, and laying the foundation of memory for future generations. This document is a testament to our maturity as a state. Also today President Zelensky said in an interview to Polish media[^2] No one and never will anyone dictate to us how to live, how to speak, whom to love, whom to be grateful to, and which heroes to respect. I will start from a reminder, that the “dictate” is already in place since 2015 when Ukraine’s Rada enacted a controversial law which makes it a criminal offence to “deny the legitimacy of the struggle for the independence of Ukraine in the 20th century” by organisations such as OUN and UPA. Essentially, if someone in Ukraine wants to dispute the goals and methods of OUN and UPA - which included killing political opponents inside Ukraine because they were “too conciliatory” or wanted Ukraine to be democratic, they are breaking the law.[^3][^4] If you are surprised that OUN and UPA considered democratic movements in Ukraine to be enemies, that’s not a mistake. OUN and UPA had a very clear vision of Ukraine as a non-democratic, ethnically clean state with single state-supported religion, limited press freedom, state-controlled corporationist economy led by a single authoritarian Leader. I’m intentionally avoiding any labels attributed to this program by political scientists.[^5] Only a few days ago Ukraine celebrated the Day of Constitution, which was first introduced in 1918 by ZUNR (Western Ukraine People’s Republic) and UNR (Ukraine People’s Republic).[^6] But both OUN and UPA considered ZUNR and UNR to be failures specifically due to what they perceived as “endless haggling” in democracy, solution to which was expected to be the autocratic rule of a the Leader of the nation. The OUN/UPA state would likely have no constitution at all. It’s also ironic that this “endless haggling” did not spare OUN, which went through numerous fraction splits (OUN-B, OUN-M) and then even more absurdly with UPA, which was originally crated by moderate Taras Bulba-Borovets[^4] who was then chased by OUN-B radicals who forced him into exile, killed his wife and took over the name of UPA.[^7] At the end of the day and as result of this infighting, only the most extreme fraction of UPA led by Dmytro Klyachkivsky and Roman Shukhevych was left fighting to the “ethnically pure” independent Ukraine. And they happen to be part of the “pantheon of heroes” while most Ukrainians seem to be totally unaware what their actual goals and methods were. I will skip the whole incendiary topic of UPA and Polish population, but I will just reiterate that Ukraine politically is a very diverse society and unlike many populists on both sides I’m not going to aggregate it into “all Ukrainians love UPA” or “all Ukrainians support Zelensky”. I’m continuing the people and army of Ukraine regardless of what century-old symbols they choose, even if I don’t like them, but I’m also not going to sit silent about the history of the people politically nominated to be “unquestioned heroes”. If you need a legal act to make them “unquestioned” then it usually means there’s something questionable about them. #Poland published details of charges against a citizen of #Ukraine recruited by #Russia security services who very actively engaged in disintegration campaigns and prepared an actual kinetic attack using an assault drone: According to the findings of the investigation, the defendant was active from November 2024 to August 2025 in Warsaw, Wrocław and other towns. He was given tasks by an unidentified person via an instant messaging service. He documented the completion of each task with photographs. Inscriptions and symbols glorifying the activities of the UPA were placed, amongst other places, on the Monument to the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto, the ‘Volhynia Massacre’ Monument in Domostawa, the monument commemorating the Polish population murdered by the OUN and UPA in Wrocław, as well as on the buildings of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. The actions of the defendant and his principals, carried out on behalf of a foreign intelligence service, were intended to incite hatred on ethnic grounds, deepen antagonisms between Poles and Ukrainians, provoke social unrest and create a sense of helplessness amongst state authorities. The final charge relates to the preparation of a sabotage operation during the parade to mark Polish Armed Forces Day, scheduled for 15 August 2025 in Warsaw. Illia K. was preparing to fly an unmanned aerial vehicle over the vehicle in which the President of the Republic of Poland was to be travelling during the parade. Among other things, the defendant agreed on the type of device, the costs and method of financing its purchase, the method of carrying out the task, the means of confirming its completion, and measures to minimise the risk of detection. He also searched for offers to purchase a drone and for information regarding the parade route in the Wisłostrada area. The planned operation did not take place due to the defendant’s arrest. https://www.gov.pl/web/prokuratura-krajowa/akt-oskarzenia-w-sprawie-dzialan-dywersyjnych-na-rzecz-obcego-wywiadu (in Polish)

#PussyRiot women took responsibility for the #Russia “artists” in #Venice, disrupting their happy partying far away from the war. The activists did real time in prison in Russia and then were enlisted as “extremist”, but in #Italy the Russian “law enforcement” can at best kiss their ass. Hopefully this happening will also give some food for thought to the “artistic” scumbags who invited Russians to Venice, normalising their barbarity in Europe.

For those who have doubts about #Ukraine hits on #Russia logistical hubs like #Wildberries, here’s a proud summary posted by Russian media where they boast about how “since start of 2026 we hit over 20 hubs of Nova Poshta”. Now Ukraine joined the game and they whine. Formally, both are commercial companies shipping civilian goods but since vast amount of military equipment goes through volunteer channels, they obviously ship that too - for example drones. And that’s precisely how Russian MOD justified *their* hits. One difference is that Wildberries is a sales agent (like Amazon) so their hubs actually *store* goods, including unarmed FPV drones, parts etc, while NP only ships them and stores them in transit.

A sad lesson from a few years of operating local #DNS resolvers in my infrastructure - #DNSSEC validation requires enormous resources to work reliably due to vast extra records it needs to pull from DNS for each validation and required computing power. Forget about DNSSEC validation in systemd-resolved, dnsmasq or unbound on home routers, it will just cause periodic and apparently unexplained delays and choke overall DNS resolution. On firewalls like #OPNsense it also would work only server-class devices, any of the desktop-class fanless hardware won’t work reliably for DNSSEC validation even if they can perfectly handle production-class proxy and firewall traffic. Probably what only makes sense is a dedicated Unbound validation server, a separate container or jail but running within a proper hardware server with tons of memory and CPU. But then I found out that it’s much easier to use non-DNSSEC caching resolvers on perimeter devices that forward queries to Quad9 ECS resolvers[^1] which already do DNSSEC validation. The only missing bit is that I think my local resolvers don’t forward the DO bit downstream, but that I need to still check. [^1]: https://quad9.net/service/service-addresses-and-features/#ecssec

@AubreyDeLosDestinos@101010.pl @r4f4l@101010.pl No cóż, nie ja wprowadzałem bezcłowy import z Chin równocześnie z ETS.

@masek@infosec.exchange Sure, but it won’t be very helpful 😄 I have no idea what they’re doing and I have little appetite to drill down because their problems sound like complete, irrelevant nonsense for me. That’s a typical disease of the Polish right since forever, that is since 1989. They were going through endless fraction splits over truly idiotic ideological arguments which mean nothing to anyone except for a bunch of right-wing intellectuals. The ruling center-right Koalicja Obywatelska now operates in technocratic administrator mode, which is kind of good for the war-time period stability, but they clearly have little ideas for the future. Right-wing like PiS have tons of pompous ideas, but they are irrelevant, contradictory and full of hypocrisy. The true danger is alt-right like “Konfederacja” who are a kind of revolutionary party like MAGA, forcing anti-European and extreme neoliberal ideas, which could be destructive to the current economic prosperity period - or even disastrous if they push for Polexit. And then there’s the outright arm of Moscow, “Konfederacja Korony Polskiej”. And the problem is that PiS is losing voters to both of the above, which is why PiS is running like a headless chicken where the 70-years old grandpas on the top come up with surreal ideas which didn’t even work when they were half their age.

I have a few firewalls and servers which expose USB console - usually MiniUSB port on the device and the other end goes to laptop, so USB host (?). Is there a simple device that could multiplex them all, so that I can connect over SSH and just monitor the serial I need? I use NanoKVM but it does the full video and I think one serial (?). On the other hand, I’m thinking if I had a RapsberryPi there which has four USB host ports I could just connect each serial to one and then simply select them from shell using appropriate /dev/ttyUSBx devices. But maybe someone has that working and tested, before I go hacking?

Speaking of salmonella, measles, cyclospora and other stuff returning to the US on #MAGA policies, we should keep in mind their ideology is at core Darwinian. For them it’s not policy mistake return to “normal” - “survival of the fittest”, “dog eat dog”, “greed is good” etc There’s an obvious contradiction here - “survival of the fittest, but not for my precious kids”. In these circles this has been solved by simple hypocrisy - say one, then secretly vaccinate them. Condemn abortion, but “it’s my daughter, it’s a special situation” etc I think what really pisses them off is when these simple achievements become available for the general public as a simple civilisation baseline, just like available accommodation or food. That completely breaks the whole elitist sentiment their ideology is based on.

@txtx@mastodon.social I’m very much aware of the reasons why Euromaidan happened, but we’re speaking of the whole Ukrainian society, not only the decisively pro-European fraction of it. But Euromaidan was when? In 2013, and Poland joined EU when? In 2004, starting preparations at least decade before. Poland joined NATO in 1997, while the support for joining NATO in Ukraine was low even after 2014, only in 2019 it was officially written into the Constitution. Also, quite curiously, you skipped four full paragraphs of what I wrote only to focus on on one sentence in the last paragraph, about EU. Does that mean you generally agree with the remaining part of my comment? P.S. you’re certainly aware of what happened today - finding the body of the woman who was suspected in attack on Yermolaev, where active HUR officer was now arrested? You think nobody in SBU or President’s Office had no clue about this before? Or that Zelensky doesn’t know about what’s going on in Dnipro? @aho@mastodon.social

As with previous such sieges, in #Konstantinivka right now we’re facing a classic #Russia #Ukraine there and back “we took it, no you didn’t”. Russians always declare capture of towns or villages “on credit”, that is long before they actually control it, which often leads to ridiculing themselves, as it was with #Kupyansk and #MalaTokmachka. But military experts have long predicted that Konstantinivka will fall, because Russians concentrated all their forces there and Ukraine abandoned the old “fortress Bakhmut” tactics which as it led to high losses of the defenders. Under the “active defense” tactics, fall of Konstantinivka is planned, it is only matter of losses ratio curve going beyond Ukraine’s acceptable threshold. At that point ZSU will retreat… and move to another defense line behind Konstantinivka, as they did when #Pokrovsk fell. And the defense lines around the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration are probably the most dense and best prepared in the whole war. That’s what military experts from both Ukraine and Russia write, the latter pointing out that “liberation” of the towns may take another few years at an insane human cost to Russia. And I think that’s the very point of Ukraine’s tactics here.

When I saw LGBT people on Hamas parades, wearing their green jihadi bandanas along with LGBT symbols in Europe and London I was seriously wondering “are they suicidal?” Haven’t they seen gay people dropped to death from buildings in Gaza and hanged from cranes in Iran? Or they just pretended it’s all “traitors” as Hamas excuses it? The tragedy in Berlin is terrible and I very much hope some people will now see for real what kind of ideology they had been, directly or indirectly, fostering. If you are condemning violence by European nationalist far-right you’re 100% right, except it’s now time to recognise the fact that there’s a whole more spectrum further to the right even from Nazis - that’s the radical Islamism, represented among others by Hamas. You defend them under the “human rights” umbrella except you apply it to people outright reject the ideas of human rights in the first place. And rule of law. And individual freedoms. And everything that Europe was built on. European left hiding their heads in sand and calling anyone criticising lenient treatment of these bastards as “Islamophobic” greatly contributed to their growth in impunity. PS. I was married to a perfectly normal Muslim woman so please spare me the “you’re just Islamophobic” bullshit. Islam is not the same as Islamist extremism and widespread ignorance in this is yet another contributing factor.

@rcz@101010.pl That’s precisely what I’m talking about - a constant stream of excuses, which is completely mixed up and its primary point is, indeed, to take away any agency from #Palestine. As I see it today: #Hamas has 100% control over their actions and financially supported by IranHamas control over #Gaza is full, just as their decisions to steal humanitarian aid, enforce “military tax”, conduct arbitrary executions of Palestinian civilians, build kilometers of tunnels for stolen humanitarian fundsHamas doesn’t give a shit about Palestinians as they are, its mission is to destroy Israel at any cost, literallyPalestinian civilians are indeed absent of any agency in Gaza, as they are practically hostages of Hamas - that’s the true tragedyPalestinians in Western Bank have PAA and thus much more agency, and they are indeed focused on development of their autonomy, not on fightingHamas was not “created by Netanyahu”, Gazans voted for it in 2006 in their last elections, after which Hamas conducted an armed coup in 2007 kicking out (=killing) any PAA representatives and turning Gaza into a land fortress with only one purpose - destroy #IsraelThis vote unfortunately irreversibly destroyed any trust built after Oslo Accords and posed Ariel Sharon, who only in 2005 forcibly withdrew any Israeli settlers from Gaza, as a naive pacifist; and this indeed brought Netanyahu to power, so if anything it was the very opposite what left says today Here comes the Western left, mixes all that up, and lumps together Hamas and Palestinians, while being very careful not to mention any of the above events, especially hostile stance of Hamas towards civilians in Gaza, whom they exclusively treat as human shield and source of income.

Panika. No więc nie. I mają rację. Dlaczego?

Essence of the #Zelensky #Fedorov conflict in #Ukraine as captured by #Poland military analytic Marcin Ogdowski: Reports of the destruction of Russian rear bases, the stalemate on the front line, Kyiv’s diplomatic offensive (…) is like a cocoon, creating the illusion of victory, giving the impression that the worst is already behind us, that Russia is on its knees, and that the war will end any moment now. All we need to do is hold out for a few more months and deal the Russians a few more painful blows. From this perspective, there is no mention of the costs to Ukraine – as if this were an irrelevant factor. As if the condition of the Ukrainian state and society remained a constant – impervious and resilient to Russian attacks. Meanwhile, Ukraine is bleeding to death… The army is suffering very heavy losses, recruitment and mobilisation efforts are faltering, and the economy – despite innovations in the defence sector – remains inefficient, dependent on a Western lifeline. A country in such a state should not be engaging in a war of attrition. For whilst the enemy is also taking a beating, it still has more to give; Ukraine cannot overcome this asymmetry through a traditional exchange of blows. Overcoming Russia’s advantages must take the form of revolutionary solutions – organising the battlefield in such a way that the Russians do not suffer greater losses (which is not difficult), but that their losses are drastically higher – several times, and ultimately more than a dozen times, as many as Ukraine’s. This lethal multiplier effect holds the key to victory, understood as forcing the Russians to end the war. If Ukraine kills and wounds 35–40,000 Russians a month, whilst losing 15–20,000 of its own soldiers, it will not get very far. Even in a situation where the casualty profile – the ratio of non-returnable to returnable casualties – is more favourable to Kyiv (as is currently the case and has been for most of the war). Quite simply, Ukraine has four times fewer of these people (or rather five times, taking into account the actual manpower available to the authorities in Kyiv). The former Ukrainian Defence Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, understood this stark arithmetic of war very well. Hence his ideas on the use of drones and robotics, i.e. greater combat effectiveness. Above all, however, he focused on the reorganisation of the army’s industry and logistics – digitising them wherever possible. The aim was to eliminate the ‘human factor’, which is burdened by incompetence, excessive decision-making or a lack thereof, the temptation to engage in corruption, and other weaknesses. But Fedorov is no longer head of the Ministry of Defence – that was the decision taken by President Zelenskyy. Consequently, the centre of gravity in ‘battlefield design’ is once again shifting towards those associated with the Ukrainian High Command and its head, General Oleksandr Syrskyi. And he “fights in the Russian style” – though I realise this is a simplification – embracing the logic of a war of attrition. His successes in stabilising the front always entail huge losses for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Syrskyi’s manoeuvres typically lack finesse, innovation, and operational and tactical dexterity. There is a great deal of Soviet art of war, with its fixation on ‘meat-grinder assaults’. And the conviction that brutality – including towards one’s own soldiers – will eventually break the enemy. https://bezkamuflazu.pl/ukraina-sie-wykrwawia/

#Hamas dissolves its government in #Gaza to transfer power to a UN-backed committee https://apnews.com/article/israel-gaza-palestinians-hamas-war-government-146f9a609580d4c8c42ab35fbe60d5b3 Which may be fiction as the topic of disarmament is still not closed. Also speaking of “Hamas government” is a bit of a euphemism as Hamas last won its first and last elections in 2006, after which it took control over Gaza in an armed coup, killing and arresting Fatah (PAA) representatives, and never allowed any elections since.

#Ukraine former head of UPA support NGO and then head of Institute of National Remembrance Vyatrovych is doing rounds in media telling every how “Poland became like Russia to us”. The dumb nationalist fucker says that right in the middle of the war where Polish state and society relentlessly supports Ukraine’s defence effort. How do you think, what he’s counting on? Because if Poland is “like Russia”, he should call for closure of the border on their side, right? And he says that a day before Ukraine MFA Sybiha meets with Polish MFA Sikorski, which Sybiha then summarised: “I thanked Radosław for Poland’s support in opening the first and sixth negotiation clusters. (…) I expressed my gratitude to Poland for its support of Ukraine from the very first days of the full-scale Russian invasion” Now, can you see who’s actually pushing the interest of Ukrainian state of 2026 at war, and who’s pushing his delusional fantasies and phobias from 1930’s, effectively playing into the hands of Russia?

I don’t get the idea of the #EV “pay per mile” tax being proposed in the UK. The rationale is that EV drivers won’t pay the fuel tax duty, because they don’t buy fuel. But EV don’t run on pranic energy, they run on electricity which is… already heavily taxed, just like fuel. https://www.dicklovett.co.uk/electric/guides/new-pay-per-mile-ev-car-tax-how-will-drivers-really-be-impacted
