@tshirtman @fvsch Using cloud LLMs like always-on, autonomous agents gets expensive. While they've gotten better at following instructions compared to before, you can't say they're cost-effective by any means.
And if you try to do the same thing with local LLMs, they demand 128GB or more of VRAM. Otherwise, they can't even use their full context window and just get stuck in a loop of small failures.
In short, it's just a toy for people with six-figure salaries.

They're just surplus value for our lives, not essential infrastructure by any means.
And yet, AI data centers destroy our living environments, waste our electricity and water, and even steal our jobs, which are our lifelines.
Furthermore, if those computational resources become the physical AI for security or military robots used to monitor ordinary citizens and suppress protests, which class of people exactly stands to benefit?
Something we don't need is taking away the things we do need.

I spent about two hours messing around with Salesforce this afternoon. I didn't do any coding. I'm a fucking white-collar worker, so some days are just like that.
Sometimes I just don't want to get out of bed.
But fundamentally, I'm the type of person who goes crazy if I'm not working.
It feels almost like my basal metabolism.

He's a member of the assembly, so he's not an outsider.
At US Big Tech and the kind of top-tier global companies where folks on the fediverse work, AI agents are now taking over most of the coding jobs, and people are terrified, saying things like, "They just started mass layoffs over there, I'm next."
But as for what's happening to us at Japanese companies, young employees will jump ship immediately if their working conditions aren't good enough. We're constantly short-staffed. If anything, we actually want AI to spread as fast as possible.
The way ADHD traits manifest actually varies quite a bit depending on the environment.
If we're put in a bad environment, distractibility runs rampant, and if our health is poor, impulsivity increases.
My workplace is in a really bad state right now, so I'm forgetting tasks more frequently. However, I can't say that all of it is entirely my fault.
