An InterCity train was unusually stopped at a regional station:
"What is the InterCity doing there?"
"It's intersitting"

GNOME designers having shit opinions as usual.
I am surprised at the cognitive dissonance between saying GNOME is good and - at the same time - having extensions that remove GNOME behaviour.

@zaire@fedi.absturztau.be @delta@chaos.social No. Using email as a backbone is one of the big selling points. Otherwise, there's dozens of apps out there. Using the email infrastructure brings advantages no other protocol can bring, such as censorship resistance.
That's not the issue here. For example, the blog post mentions multiple relays, but only one seems to be used for sending, which feels like that meme of a miner giving up right before reaching diamonds. If Delta Chat would send each message from a random relay, the problem would pretty much be solved. Alas, I have a love-hate relationship with Delta Chat, and I often find the choices of the devs puzzling.

@delta@chaos.social @zaire@fedi.absturztau.be It doesn't really go "all the way" though. Just because the email address is random, it doesn't make it unbreakable: it's still a unique and persistent identifier.

@lunareclipse@snug.moe @badkeys@infosec.exchange I mean, if it's out of scope, then it's not even a disclosure, as "out of scope" is an admittance that it's no biggie for the information to be public to begin with, right?

@vivavaleria@eldritch.cafe @maartje@blahaj.social The terms refer to the stretch of railway track between two stations/junctions.
I don't know the origin of "vrije baan", although I know the same term is used in other railways (Romanian, for example).
I imagine "volle baan" is used because it refers to the full stretch of track without switches, even if it might be subdivided by block signals.
On Romanian railways, if the automatic block signal system is completely disfunctional, the driver can be given an order which reserves the entire "free way" for them, instructing them to ignore all block signals until reaching the entrance signal of the next station.

@maartje@blahaj.social @boatload@mk.absturztau.be CFR is more advanced than SNCF?!? In Romania, the station master goes outside, watches the train go by, then goes in and updates the "passing through" time on the computer. The train staff doesn't have to do anything.

@delta@chaos.social @dexternemrod@troet.cafe @zaire@fedi.absturztau.be Absolutely. I just hope you can also see my point that, if you don't like it when Telegram does it, then you should also not lure people with somewhat misleading claims that are then clarified in the details.

@r10s@mastodon.social @delta@chaos.social @maypop@bark.wolp.chat I understand using SwiftUI for the simplicity, but it's also sad. Oh well...
Edit due to your edit: I don't like that you're conflating using SwiftUI and Liquid Ass with being integrated with the system. It's very much possible to be well integrated with the system but use custom UI.
And yeah, they're going from horrific to quite bad. An improvement, but still not something I want to use, I'm sticking with iOS 18.

@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk I also don't think making a donation to MZLA is desirable, given it's a for-profit subsidiary, not subject to transparency about what happens to the funds, and Mozilla as a whole seems to be heading towards AI stuff, MZLA Technologies included

@delta@chaos.social @zaire@fedi.absturztau.be I've read the blog post. The last section doesn't say that you plan to have sending through random relays. Besides words that make the blog post feel like corporate slop ("research and iterative streamlining of multi-path operations"), what I gather from that section is that you plan to replace manually adding relays with automatically adding a relay after discovering it. If there will still be a primary relay where all the messages come out of, that doesn't address what I said, and it still provides metadata that users can be identified by.

Glad you'll check that route off though!

@jvoisin@infosec.exchange On a more personal note, I found the amount of flak and hate completely wild, and I think I would have got way less had I simply decided to go with full disclosure. Is it shocking that, if you're being useless and acting like an asshole, people treat you as such? If you would have done a full disclosure, at least that would have been something useful, others would then know what to look for or what to fix.

@v_d_richards@literatur.social @dr4k0n616@woof.tech For one, outside of Germany, terms such as "TAN" don't really exist. Also, in countries other than Germany, most banks - including those with branches and such - are making their smartphone online banking app the only way to do banking. When alternative ways exist - such as a separate code generating device - they are usually expensive. Finally, your advice about "never do banking and verification on the same device" misses the point of the original post: having more than one device is often a luxury.

@r10s@mastodon.social @maypop@bark.wolp.chat @delta@chaos.social I can think of many apps that don't have liquid coming out of their glass: Uber, Lime, Dott, Discord, Bitwarden, DB Navigator... Adopting a bad design - unless using SwiftUI - is a choice.

@r10s@mastodon.social @delta@chaos.social @maypop@bark.wolp.chat Yesn't. It's not strictly about looking the same (unless the goal is to look as if Apple made the app, in which case Delta Chat is still failing because there isn't the animation of the text field morphing into the bubble and transitioning into the chat log), but behaving the same and remaining intuitive. The simplest example is the button being clicked on lifting the finger, not when being touched, unless the finger moves away from the button before lifting.
