@nickfarr@chaos.social pugs are probably one of the few human-made animal breeds that can be taken as signs that the owners either don't care about or activly enjoy the suffering of the animal - if you have ever heard a pug breath irl or read up on the many health issues caused by their distinct snout/skull shape, you will be ashamed to be of the same species that activly bred them into existence

@annasdtc@sciences.social personally self-hosting vs big services is similar to gardening and farming as in: gardening is a great hobby and allows one to learn a lot about plants and soil (and can be a nice addition to gain personal independence!), but one would be mistaken to assume everybeing wants/can get into gardening (and even more mistaken to decry anybeing not willing to switch to gardening as bad!)
