This is the story of how I learned to do fiberglass repair.
About a month ago, we ran into the duck doing a sails-up reposition on the pier, and thus discovered a paste-only repair from a previous owner.
The initial hole was only maybe two inches tall, but this is what it looked like after I dug out most of the old repair
I remember one "half-way day" event, three weeks into a six-week summer camp, where the theme was swapping clothes with another camper of a different gender, and I got to wear a skirt for the first time.
The only comments anyone made were about how the hadn't seen me smile so much in... ever.
It was only one day in 1986, yet I still remember exactly what that skirt looked like and how it felt to wear.
And this is why I will ALWAYS fight for trans kids.

Nina Gerber is a guitarist, known most widely as the long time accompanist for legendary songwriter and folk singer Kate Wolf.
Her sense of timing and composition, the way she artfully emphasised Kate Wolf's singing, have been a huge influence on my own playing.
When I'm talking with session musicians on my projects, I point to Gerber as an example of what I'm after.
A songwriter in her own right, she's published many albums.

Listening to an episode of Folk on Foot, and once again being reminded of how many musicians' journeys to finding their own creativity took them through jug band music, and finding some satisfaction in seeing that as part of my own winding road to becoming a songwriter.

Great storytelling, brilliant characters, a novel narrative device that blends seamlessly into the story.
Brilliant mashup and reimagining of stories and characters from 18th and 19th century sf adventure and horror woven into a new and compelling story
and heroine.
I'm not sure if it was published with pages yellowed by age or if that's just my library's copy, but it certainly fits the mood.
Trying to remember a pop song from the early 00's. I don't remember almost anything about it except that it was fronted by a 20 something woman and the chorus has an all-stop followed by "...so frustrated!"

Re-listened to "The Very Pulse of The Machine" by Michael Swanwick last night. It's always been one of my favorites, stuck in my memory.
I don't know how I missed the horror overtones until last night, but it's very well done. Maybe it's meant to be one of those stories that gives "...wait. Oooh! Whoa."
