I like agency as a normative and structural phenomenon through doing weird things to computers, making it both easy, accessible, and attractive, and sharing it online

@cwebber@social.coop I’m gonna avoid using browsers as much as I can and run everything in a terminal until I get a patch. Bye!

@opensourceopenmind@social.vivaldi.net @ltning@pleroma.anduin.net A friend of mine has been considered as paranoid and has notoriously claimed his Tails drives were cracked in 15 minutes, with strong technical claims. 2/3 @moses_izumi@fe.disroot.org @rl_dane@polymaths.social

  1. awesome domain name
  2. this is good news. the problems, if any, are already happening in the wild. you’re not more threatened today than 2 months ago, but if there’s actually a dozen of critical zero-days in a standard Linux system we can push for ocap-based systems and/or better security practices.

@opensourceopenmind@social.vivaldi.net @ltning@pleroma.anduin.net Most of what he said turned out to be true IMO, and he claims it takes weeks to get his Qubes OS box pwned. I wonder now whether there’s a dozen, or more, of remote zero-days on a standard Linux system and (as Christine said) whether or not we should switch to more secure systems, e.g. capabilities-based, or either to OpenBSD or Qubes OS. 3/3 @moses_izumi@fe.disroot.org @rl_dane@polymaths.social

@opensourceopenmind@social.vivaldi.net @ltning@pleroma.anduin.net I think we’re coming to our senses fast about the actual security of an average Linux workstation or, in this case, media server. We’re concerned to know whether vulnerabilities can be remotely exploited by skilled attackers in real time. 1/3 @moses_izumi@fe.disroot.org @rl_dane@polymaths.social
