@twostraws@mastodon.social As a middle-aged straight, cis, white male that grew up in America's heartland and nearly went to seminary: fuck this guy, indeed. I love learning Swift from you, and am glad you're able to be your free and happy self away from the job.

@edovia@mastodon.cloud I already managed to get it to download, but couldn’t tell you if downloading something else was the cure. FWIW, I’ve now had other apps impacted (such as today’s TikTok release), so it’s entirely likely that this is a visionOS issue. BTW, Screens 5 works great, and the hand → mouse pointer gestures are fantastic.
Maybe it’s just because @ivory@tapbots.social is so wonderful, but I still vastly prefer Mastodon over Bluesky and Threads. Here’s hoping folks that are already here choose to stick around.
@cabel@social.panic.com Oh my! The Disney Nerd in me is so appreciative of this. Attn: @matt@worldkey.io
@shunley42@tech.lgbt “The Media Equation” by Clifford Nass is a seminal book on this topic (at least as it relates to treating computers like people). Check it out, along with doing a search on Google Scholar to see who has cited it in academic papers. Here’s some basic info on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Media_Equation
@grammargirl@zirk.us I assume that most folks will independently choose to include at least a regional description in their bio, except for those with a decent public presence. That said, I’ve sort of gathered that you’re likely somewhere in my region (Central Coast, CA), so I use some of your photos/comments for area awareness.
@BasicAppleGuy@mastodon.social Did you just recently pick this up? They’ve been sold out of the six color version for years, and I’ve only ever been able to get versions with the solid logo.
@ChrisLawley@mastodon.social @viticci@mastodon.macstories.net As a fellow California iPad person (due SW of you, near the coast), I would also like to see that. I’d also love to see your pizza recipe, as when I currently want that combo, I have to get the Pinapple Chicken Luau pizza from Mountain Mike’s (which also uses BBQ sauce). It’s good, but I bet homemade is better.
Most importantly… running macOS on my M2 iPad Pro would be amazing.
@macstories@mastodon.macstories.net FYI: all the Wallpaper links currently go to a story about wearable tech. They should go here: https://www.wallpaper.com/tech/monument-valley-at-10-the-story-of-the-most-meticulous-puzzle-game-ever-created
@FreezePeach@twit.social Good to know. Not sure why it isn’t showing for me then. Perhaps I just need to wait it out a bit.
@ChrisLawley@mastodon.social Thank you for posting this! I had just assumed that this was “how it is now,” and didn’t bother to poke around Settings. Also switched “Up Next” to show poster art instead of a still image from the next episode, as that image was occasionally a spoiler.
@_Davidsmith@mastodon.social @ivory@tapbots.social Even though I managed to get into the beta in the <2 minutes it was open, I also support this suggestion. (and yes, the Mac beta is quite nice, even in the unfinished state).
@bbech@mastodon.social Ages ago I used MapMyRun, and still reference it occasion. These days I typically use the iOS app Footpath: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/footpath-route-planner/id634845718
@aaron_pearce@mastodon.social Gotcha. Totally understand. I’m planning on picking it up for my Mac later today, but add me in as a vote for possible future iOS / iPadOS inclusion. (I can understand the hesitancy after people didn’t comprehend how HomeLog for iOS worked).
@aaron_pearce@mastodon.social Out of curiosity, does Eat the Shorts also work in Safari for iOS? I don’t use the native YouTube app.
@adamconover@mastodon.social As some others mentioned Sofa is an excellent app for books, games, movies, etc. For everything else, I’d suggest Drafts which is basically a Swiss Army Knife for text, and can be molded however you like (simple or seriously complex). It has both iOS and macOS clients, and a very active user community. Plus, it has a wonderful “arrange” mode for text: https://docs.getdrafts.com/docs/editor/arrangemode
