@mathowie@xoxo.zone one of the things like many where I feel like I’m in a place in my 30s that I have the disposable income to buy things I lusted after in my late 20s and early 30s but everything raising in cost makes it 2x plus more than what it was when I was looking at it.

@AshtonDev my toddler likes to just type and I’d let him use Pages because every so often he’d accidentally change the font or colors and it would bring him joy. When this rolled out all of a sudden he was freaking out because he wasn’t sure what’s happening. There were a bunch of watermarked image generations all over the place because they made the AI buttons purple when no other button has color

Need some help from #mac nerds out there. Old Time Machine drive died and just set up another. I noticed the hard drive -- not SSD -- gets very noisy during the hourly backups. Was formatting the drive as APFS probably why and Should I reformat as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)/HFS+?

Noticed my other large hard drive I use for large file storage doesn't seem as noisy in use and that was done as a HFS+ format.

@kyle@keyboards.social turns out I wasn't crazy because I thought I already knew that its best to format HDD as HFS+. When you select a drive for Time Machine it reformats it into APFS. What did you do to make it so it only runs on the evenings?

They grew up in Brooklyn but haven’t lived there since the _60s_ but they are forever experts on what Brooklyn and New York is like. Granted they’ve lived in 2 different states longer than they ever did New York but they forever identify as New Yorkers.

The Verge’s paywall has to be one of the worst in the industry. I maybe click on a link once a week and am always blocked. I recall in their announcement post they claimed it would be a generous rolling page view limit. Apparently I’m forever over that no matter what device I try from.
