Freeform is the first big new system app from Apple in a while and it's great on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

I've spent a lot of time with it and go in-depth on what it can do over at MacStories.net:

Freeform Leverages the Freedom and Flexibility of a Blank Canvas

Freeform is a brand new iPhone, iPad, and Mac app from Apple that lets users create multimedia boards on an infinite canvas that include text, images, drawings, links, files, and more. It's an ambitious entry into a crowded category of apps that take overlapping approaches, emphasizing everything from note-taking to collaborative design to whiteboarding. As

iPadOS 16.2 and Stage Manager for External Displays: Work in Progress, But Worth the Wait

Ever since I last wrote about iPadOS 16, I have continued using Stage Manager on my iPad Pro. As I wrote in October, I like the idea behind Stage Manager more than its implementation. Despite the flawed design of its multitasking concepts and bugs I still encounter on a daily basis, it's undeniable that Stage

We're going to do a part 2 of our Gone but Not Forgotten series on AppStories right after our annual holiday break.

What apps do you miss from the early days of the App Store?

I'd love to get some listener favorites to share during the episode

Replying to

@apt No, links are separate objects - you can't link to things like images, shapes, or text. That would be a good addition.

Replying to

@jimc @viticci I think it takes a while for new apps to get indexed sometimes. I've noticed this before.

@saschasegan Kind of but it's a flat structure - no way to link boards together

@matsimpsk @viticci One accessibility thing it does is allow for the addition of descriptions to images and video.

@dennyhenke@social.coop Very good point. I think it's the Pencil support that drew so many comparisons with Notes, but of course, the shapes are very iWork. I could definitely see building slides in Freeform and exporting them to PDF and then into Keynote as a workflow
