@lxskllr@mastodon.world That stardate is wrong. It should be -296260.7. Or at least I think you have it wrong. @MirrorAyako@universeodon.com @startrek@fedigroups.social

@Phangurl@vmst.io Is there an interview with the Secret Service agent? Otherwise I don’t believe this was real. Last night was multiple conflicting headline updates. On top of the multiple failed assassination attempts, it feels all staged.

@Phangurl@vmst.io This is what a lot of us hope will one day happen. Warp flight, that is.

@Phangurl@vmst.io I don’t have a recommendation for or against. I would need to re-read these books.

@Phangurl@vmst.io It’s a series. They were written for children but just like the name suggest, scary. At least look at the covers first. Apparently there is newer editions from 2011 that have art from a different illustrator. This is straight up horror for children. I honestly don’t remember the stories.

@Phangurl@vmst.io This is completely different. That series is an anthology of short stories. This movie presents those stories as part of a single connected narrative. On top of the stories themselves there were illustrations.

@Phangurl@vmst.io I’m sorry to hear that. I’m usually just watching Star Trek (well not the movies). Otherwise I turn to my favorite, Blade Runner: The Final Cut.

@WhombeX Let me drop some trivia here: The Original Series episode pictured is “Yesterday is Tomorrow”, which Enterprise accidentally travels to Earth in 1969. The story which centers around a NASA shuttle launch and specifies the launch will take place in the month of July on a Wednesday. This episode aired January 26, 1967. This predicted the launch of Apollo 11 on July 20, 1969, a Wednesday in July.

@Phangurl@vmst.io Yes I was. Scalzi made a comparison to the show he worked on in the afterword, stating it was coincidental if you thought the story was similar.
Replying to
@Phangurl@vmst.io There is a direct comparison in the story to Star Trek. They mention it by name.

@Phangurl@vmst.io John Scalzi, the creative consultant, claims any similarity to his novel Redshirts, is not intentional.
Saw outside near the California Museum of Photography a group of elderly women protesting (sounds like the wrong word; my brain can’t think of a better word) for equality of their fellow Humans. It was a touching sight.
Then I saw a still standing monument for Ceaser Chavez next to the group. I guess it will be difficult to find public spaces around here that can draw attention but are free of the Chavez image.
Lunch break. Got like and hour and half. Gonna walk to the Arcade Coffee for luckily the only good and available specialty coffee in the area.
Well, I have to report for jury duty tomorrow. You'd think with Friday being the next day, you'd just be told your service has been completed for the year.
Galaxy Quest is the staged reading at #STLV this year! Got my ticket. A perfect story to celebrate the 60th Anniversary.

@Phangurl@vmst.io The Thing from Another World is the 1951 movie adaption. The Thing is the 1982 adaption.

@Phangurl@vmst.io Famously the episode with the same plot as The Thing from Another World/The Thing.
I remember when “The Expanse” first aired. Such a shocking episode. #ent
I want to know who recorded the vocals for the Klingon acid punk song on #ld.
Delicious salmon and pierogies for dinner. #firstcontactday
New euphemism: sensors knocked offline. Meaning: intoxicated/inebreated.
Example: My sensors have been knocked offline by this cannabis and beer.
I like that Garrett and Robbie (probably just following Garrett’s cue) call Les Landau uncle. In Asian cultures, to refer to a non-relative, especially an elder, as an aunt or uncle is a sign of respect. #thedeltaflyers
Shocker, I know. I have never watched The Thin Blue Line.
I forgot how good Ellipse by Imogen Heap was. I’ll stand by Speak Now as a favorite of my teenage years but this was an awesome album too.
This is the stupidest thing I have heard in a while.
“Of Gods and Angles” is a heartwarming episode of #ld that shows how the crew of USS Cerritos is very supportive. Olly finally found people who cared about how she was performing on the job, and their self esteem. Plus it was cute seeing Mariner recognizing how much she was like Olly.

@Phangurl@vmst.io There is an afterword which they directly bring up the possibility of a comparison.

@RikerGoogling@mas.to More appropriate for Quadcorder since the prefix is derived from the Greek word “tetra” which means four.
