Whoever designed this “map” in terminal A of the Houston airport, I salute your trolling.

I might need to re-evaluate this relationship…

@rmhogervorst@rstats.me I'm glad I wasn't sipping coffee when I read "When I recounted the results to my wife, she told me to never waste her time like this again. I probably will."
Today's discussion about "what is a condiment" has elicited the concept of food items exhibiting condiment-ingredient duality depending on usage.
I enjoyed this thread, and have a few notes of my own to add:
1. distinguishing between clerical errors and dealbreakers is kind of a big deal and why experts exist
2. we still have a mostly insurmountable gap between what LLMs can do with statistical knowledge from training data; and the tasks that require semantic / referential knowledge (see point 1)

“It’s not an age gap if he’s a shadow zaddy.”

@Sophie I long for the days of documentation and not a QR code to a youtube video on how to use something.

@Quantensalat@scicomm.xyz Things I couldn't fit in frame: antarctica in the north pole, and a few unidentifiable land masses behind me.
It has come to my attention that on youtube, you can find a 90+ minute cut of all the cutscenes from the Lego Lord of the Rings games.
This ends up being an abridged and wacky remake of the film trilogy.

@marcrr@ecoevo.social @deevybee@mastodon.social I dunno, seems like a profitable business decision to copy the model, but excise the slow, unreliable part (peer review).

@melissaekline@mefi.social @briannosek@nerdculture.de Auditing is accurate! My only objection is that the term "auditing" has negative connotations... and that's why I steered into terms related to quality. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Drmowinckels @debruine Interesting! R is always a bit frustrating in how so many functions silently fix things for you. A short warning would be nice.
RE: @BenjaminHCCarr@hachyderm.io
Where are people migrating to next? I can tolerate a lot of things, but retconning a blogpost on values feels very sketchy.
I think we need to standardize nomenclature for dandan noodles in the same way as Hủ tiếu, by specifying whether it is a dry or wet prep.

@aarontay@mastodon.cloud TBQH, it's also my experience that many professional knowledge-workers don't really know the difference between expertise in the form of factual knowledge; and expertise in the form of critical thinking that is used in decision-making around factual knowledge.
Unfortunately, the former do end up being somewhat replaceable by a machine that can train on factual knowledge and more or less regurgitate it ad nauseam...
