Me, rocking the boyo to sleep: oh I can’t see the clock I think it’s been ten minutes or fifteen…
The clock: you’ve been asleep for an hour and a half and you’ve missed dinner

My favourite head canon from Lord of the Rings is that for some reason Frodo can’t remember Legolas’ name but it’s been too long now awkward to ask

@oz@mastodonsweden.se it's not at all like that, at least one of the jobs will be a massive overhaul of a major government system for $4.20 an hour

@trib@aus.social Because they cannot be intercepted because you do not transmit them. The private key stays on your local machine. A fancy email + complex passphrase is good, but it is still vulnerable to interception.

@rmondello@hachyderm.io I'm glad it's implemented like this! It's this sort of thing that makes lay people wonder if their phones are ‘listening’ somehow :(
Thanks for sharing!

@timixretroplays@digipres.club they can easily deal with any Australian conditions. I think there’s been a bit of misinformation about which is quite untrue.

@timixretroplays@digipres.club we got a heat pump one and it’s good. It runs during the middle of the day when the power is cheap / free and stays hot all day.

@jwarlander@mastodon.nu @timixretroplays@digipres.club aye yeah but we’re dealing with a minimum of -7° in Canberra. A walk in the park! And these machines have electric-resistive backups. Mine has never turned on

@timixretroplays@digipres.club yes since we have solar it’s basically free hot water (it does most of its heating in the early afternoon). It was our only gas appliance so removing it meant we could cut out a bill entirely

@timixretroplays@digipres.club it’s fine on a busy winter morning. It’d have to get down to less than -10 for it to have a trouble.
It’s much bigger than the old one too so once it’s hot it stays hot.
