I second that.
In the end it is very hard to judge the "correct" time frame. Especially, because there is no official reason given beyond "neglected server".
The reasons listed in this thread revolve around: 'The server is un-moderated for several month or even years'. Okay that is bad - but why such a 72h hurry? If this problem is going on for such a long time - some more weeks won't kill us.

Don't want ruin @Gargron@mastodon.social sunday, but I think this good feedback.

I would expect that to have the same security implications like someone I know with an insecure email provider.
Yes, that might enable bad actors to impersonate my mate, but that does not exposes me to an immediate threat.
Overall, the communication by Fosstodon reminds me a lot of corperate business language. :/
Monitoring the issue for month to arrive at a 72h notice makes it even more questionable. See https://hachyderm.io/@dalias/116431358768467909

My teddy wants me to tell you to tell your teddy, that he likes the pictures very much.
Now he wants a Latzhose, as well. And a large pot.

Ever since the start of the Industrial Revolution, the goal has been to deskill labour, scale up production, lower the wages of the people working in said production, making fewer people ever so much richer.
There is lot to be criticized about capitalism, but this sounds like before it, people were better skilled, had higher wages and did not work for rich/royal people. That would be news to me, but I am willing to learn.

Who is the "we" in:
we made the decision to defederate with mastodon.cloud
from the initial post? The "we" would feel better, if it is backed by a vote on https://vote.fosstodon.org - at least about the appropriate time frame for this move.

No doubt about that part. My reply was aimed at the second post that talks about security implications.

What would be the name of the bubble you have in mind?
I assume we are both from germany, and afaik here the cost for education is not skyrocketing, is it?
Cannot speak for the Netherlands (where the author seems to from), but would assume it is also rather affordable.

I dont know about the Java JIT compiler, but would be curious if something from project Leyden would make it go away (or less varying)

I am wondering about the playground. Is actually a playground - so I can edit text an toggle between both states or is it "just" a showcase?
Because for me it behaves like the latter. Toggle always goes back to the default content and I cannot define my own states/text. Is this expected?
