The white house has a selection of crappy video games on their web site including a "patriotic" version of flappy-bird. Does this embarrass Americans?

@dos@social.librem.one @opensourceopenmind@social.vivaldi.net For best results we need to have software coordinateed with power management. Don't have 5 programs doing checks every 5 minutes, have 5 programs all do their checks when power comes on and schedule that every 5 minutes.

@opensourceopenmind@social.vivaldi.net The advantage of 3D printing is that you don't need to have solid parts and can have gaps for airflow. I was thinking of a case that's sort of a cage with thick bars and wide gaps between.

@opensourceopenmind@social.vivaldi.net @dos@social.librem.one A fairly standard feature of desktop and laptop PCs is to turn on or leave suspend following a "wake on LAN" packet. The modem on a phone is a separate computer which doesn't power down and the VoLTE code it runs is MUCH more complex than XMPP. Having the modem keep TCP connections open and then wake the main CPU on actual data is theoretically possible.

@opensourceopenmind@social.vivaldi.net I don't know if I'm being positive enough about Furilabs for them to boost me. Once I got the phone (which was a saga) it worked OK but there have been a number of issues along the way. But it's the first non-Android phone that's got more than 3 days use as my primary phone since for more than 15 years.

Bad Criticism of LLMs (not AI)

Discussion of “AI” systems seems to be dominated by fears of uncommon and unlikely threats. I think that we should be focusing more on real issues with LLMs and with society in general …

@feistel@sns.feistel.party the answer to your question "Why was support for deny rules only added to the SELinux userspace in 2023?" is that SE Linux was based on a default deny model, you don't allow everything and just block things that seem bad you allow the things you need to allow. The theory is valid, but it doesn't mesh well with practices such as allowing access to socket_class_set for domains that probably don't even have software capable of doing that. Good theory + bad practices == problems

@cstross@wandering.shop do Kangaroos count as oviparous? They give birth to a tiny baby that's barely capable of crawling to a teat. So if the weather turns bad the mother's milk just shuts off and gets rid of the baby with no harm to the mother. Also kangaroos have 3 vaginas so there's lots of potential for weird SciFi there.

The Lollypop music player (which is the best one for mobile Linux due to low memory use and webm support) randomly hangs on my phone. I think it's one of my collection of 500+ songs. Now I have to try and reproduce under strace.

Rude, offensive, and not appropriate for someone working in a senator's office. But nothing incorrect about comparing Peta Credlin to Maggie Thatcher in terms of the sexual fantasies of conservative men.

Also the term Quisling does need to be used more in politics.

@opensourceopenmind@social.vivaldi.net how do you deal with the short battery life of the Librem5? I've idly considered 3d printing a case for it that has a bunch of 16650 rechargeable batteries. 16650 seem to be cheap and have a range of cheap chargers.

@opensourceopenmind@social.vivaldi.net As of my last tests with the Librem5 I probably couldn't read an ebook for an hour without having it on battery. It really affects the usage of the device.
